Paul was born at
Zweibrucken, Rheinland-Pflaz, Germany, on 12 January 1721. He was the son of
Paulus Schaffer Sr. and
Anna Maria Elizabeth Bracher. He married
Anna Elizabeth Bard circa 1748. Paul Schaffer Jr. was In 1769 Paul was Supervisor of Highways in Windsor Twp. In 1769 at
Windsor Twp., York Co., Pennsylvania. He was deed on 25 June 1782 at
Windsor Twp., York Co., Pennsylvania; Paul sold two tracts of land in Windsor Twp. to Michael Kauffelt on 25 June 1782. These tracts were surveyed to Paul Schaffer by warrant 1 June 1762. Paul died on 12 April 1784 at
Lower Windsor Twp., York Co., Pennsylvania, at age 63. His body was interred in April 1784 at
Lower Windsor Twp., York Co., Pennsylvania, at Canadochly Cemetery. Paul Schaffer's tombstone is made of slate with what appears to be knife cuttings for the letters. Some sections are very badly eroded and covered with lichen. Rubbings of the stone, notes from church records and interpretations produced the following reading of the stone:
"Hir ligt Paul Scheefer begraben 1784 Den 12 Apr Zein Alter War 63 Jar 3 Mt Der Leib Der In De Von Wirmen Wird Ver Zert Doch Avf Erwecht Zol Werden Durch Christum Schen Verklest"
which translated essentially reads:
"Her lies Paul Scheefer buried April 12, 1784 aged 63 years 3 months. This body though consumed by worms will arise through Christ.". He left a will on 20 April 1784 at
York Co., Pennsylvania; Paul Schaffer's Will was dated 20 April 1784 and probated on 18 May 1784. It names his wife, Anna Elizabeth, and daughters: Abigail who married Henry Albright; Barbara wife of John Dellinger; Christina wife of Jacob Dellinger; Catherine wife of Peter Imswiller. Executors were Anna E. Shaffer and Henry Tyson.
