"DEATH CALLS CARL SHIGLEY

Carl Shigley, age 40, a former resident of this county, died at 7 a.m. today in the Methodist hospital in Indianapolis, of peritonitis which followed an appendicitis operation. He became ill several days ago and underwent an operation for appendicitis a week ago. The appendix had ruptured before the operation was performed.

Mr. Shigley was born and reared in this county and for a number of years lived west of the city. He moved his family to a farm east of Indianapolis in September, 1929, and has since resided there.

He is survived by the widow, who was formerly Miss Mary Reed, a daughter of John Reed; one daughter, Margaret Lou, 5; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Omer Shigley; five brothers, John, Everett, George, Hubert and Paul Shigley, and two sisters, Miss Minnie Shigley and Miss Flora Shigley.

Mr. Shigley was a member of the United Presbyterian chuch of this cit and of the American Legion. He was a world war veteran and saw service overseas.

The body was brought from Indianapolis today to the Day funeral home." On 22 October 1930 at Indiana. Carl died on 22 October 1930 at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, Marion Co., Indiana, at age 39. His body was interred in October 1930 at Bloomington, Monroe Co., Indiana, at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Catherine Shigley married John Britton on 3 October 1844 at White Co., Indiana. Catherine Shigley died on 19 January 1855 at age 36.
