He was a chairmaker in Hanover, Pennsylvania. He married Elizabeth (?). Daniel was born at York Co., Pennsylvania, on 3 August 1798. He was the son of Thomas Spangler and Anna Maria Funk. Daniel was listed as the head of a family on the 1850 Census at Hanover, York Co., Pennsylvania. In the 1850 census for Pennsylvania, York Co., Hanover Borough lists the following family at dwelling and family # 148:
