Strong was land contract on 28 January 1835 at Monroe Co., Indiana; Robert bought 40 acres in the northwest corner of the Southwest corner of section 2, township 9, range 2W in Monroe Co., Indiana from John Elliot on January 28, 1835. He bought another 80 acres in the southern half of the Southwest corner of section 2, township 9, range 2W in Monroe Co., Indiana from John Nance on December 28, 1835. And then he bought another 40 acres of the northeast corner of the Southwest corner of section 2, township 9, range 2W in Monroe Co., Indiana from John Nance in September 1836. He was church membership on 23 March 1835 at Monroe Co., Indiana; Joined the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Monroe Co., Indiana on the 4th Saturday of May 1835, on examination.

He married Margaret Wylie at Monroe Co., Indiana, on 1 September 1836.¹
