He married Hester Amelia Alexander at South Carolina in 1830. Moses Stroup was Moses was an ironmaster. In 1850 Moses owned seventy horse steam mill in Cherokee Co., Georgia. In 1850. Moses was listed as the head of a family on the 1850 Census at Gordon Co., Georgia. Moses died on 31 March 1878 at Montevallo, Shelby Co., Alabama, at age 83. He was buried in April 1878 at Spring Creek Cemetery, Shelby Co., Alabama.
