John died on 25 October 1880 at age 65.

Her married life was spent in Adams and Lancaster countires, where her husband was pastor of different Reformed churches. After his death, she resided with her brother, George H. Swope, in Gettysburg. Julia was born on 4 November 1820. She was the daughter of Adam Swope and Lydia Spangler. She married Emanuel Hoffheins Rev. on 25 April 1839. Julia died on 7 August 1892 at age 71.
