Adda Wilson in "The Wilson Genealogy" states that Samuel Weir married Eliza Moffett, the daughter of David Moffett and Mary "Mollie" Strong, however I believe this to be in error. Eliza Moffett I believe married a Samuel Harbison and Samuel Weir married first to Elizabeth Strong and later to Mary Cathcart. Samuel was born on 26 July 1811. He was the son of John Weir and Jennet Strong. He married Elizabeth S. Strong before 1833. He bought property at Monroe Co., Indiana, on 7 June 1834. He married Mary Cathcart at Monroe Co., Indiana, on 3 October 1854. He made a will at Monroe Co., Indiana, on 30 May 1859. Samuel died on 9 June 1859 at Monroe Co., Indiana, at age 47. His body was interred in June 1859 at Bloomington, Monroe Co., Indiana, at United Presbyterian Cemetery.
