George Jefferson Brake was born on 25 May 1844 at

Mary M. Loomis. George Jefferson Brake began military service on 16 March 1862. He married

Rev. John Woofter and
Maria Bailey, on 31 May 1866 at
Gilmer Co., West Virginia. George Jefferson Brake married
Mary Jane Hall, daughter of
Lemuel Hall and
Susana Woofter, on 10 October 1867 at
Ritchie Co., West Virginia. George Jefferson Brake was George was a Baptist preacher as well as a farmer. George was listed as the head of a family on the 1870 Census at
Troy Twp., Gilmer Co., West Virginia. He died on 8 November 1899 at age 55. He was buried in November 1899 at
Horn Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Cox's Mills, Gilmer Co., West Virginia.
