Jesse Alexander Clayton was born about 1817 in Georgia. He married Jensie Canada on 6 March 1833 in Meriwether County, Georgia. Jensie was born about 1820, also in Georgia. Jensie and Alexander are found in Tallapoosa County by 1850. In 1855, Jensie has died and Alexander has 4 children under 21 years of age in the household. By 1860, Alexander is found living with Nathan and Martha Canada Ward. Martha is thought to be a sister of Jensie. We can assume that Jensie died sometime between 1850 and 1855.
It is not known what happened to Alexander. Did he remarry? A marriage has been found in Tallapoosa County - Alexander Clayton married Jane McMann on 3 October 1869, bondsman was Joseph Knox.
