Tippett Family of Tallapoosa County Connections - John TIPPETT * Mahala WARD LEDBETTER

John TIPPETT * Mahala WARD LEDBETTER

John Tippett was born about 1809 in Georgia. He married Matilda _______ about 1836 in Georgia. There is a marriage for John Tippett to Martha Cartwright on June 2, 1836 in Greene County, Georgia. Is this Matilda? I have reason to believe it is. They had at least seven children.

John later married Mahala Ward Ledbetter on 26 October 1859 in Tallapoosa County. Mahala was the daughter of Nathan and Martha Elizabeth (Patsy) Canady Ward. Mahala had several children with Ledbetter.

Mahala died on 20 February 1906 at the age of 84 years. She was buried in the McEwen Cemetery near Rockford in Coosa County, Alabama.
