John H. HOWELL Link
Caroline Cobb
John H. Howell was born on 2 March 1822 in Georgia, the son of Joshua
Howell and Mary Buce. He married Caroline Cobb in 1843 Tallapoosa County,
Alabama. Caroline was born on 15 June 1825 in Georgia.
John H. Howell was with the 47th Alabama Infantry, Company B in the Civil War. He enlisted on 7 April 1862 and was elected 2nd Lieutenant. In July, he wrote a letter resigning because of a lingering health problem. The resignation was accepted, effective August 16, 1862. Before the resignation was accepted, the company was engaged in its first battle in which John received a slight wound to the ear.
John and Caroline sold their farm in Elmore County, Alabama in 1885 and moved to Collin County, Texas. He and son John C. Howell jointly bought farmland west of Anna, Texas.
Caroline died on 16 June 1890 in Anna, Grayson County, Texas. John died in Anna on 3 October 1898 and is buried in the Coffman (Rollins) Cemetery in Collin County, Texas alongside Caroline.

on 6 November 1853 (Book 3, Page 159) in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Mary
was born about 1832 in Alabama.
