Meredith has been joined in this family group by his brother Walter and their third cousin Thomas Lew Osborn. They all match identically on the 12 marker test. Their genetic distance is 4 to the nearest member of the surname project, which is most of Family Group 1 plus a few others. This indicates that they are probably not related in recent genealogical times to anyone else in the project at the present time.

Yet, Lee Osborne has recently found documentation that Cyrus Osborn, m Hannah, is the father of David D Osborn AND Solomon G Osborn, the same Solomon Osborn who is the ancestor of J David Osborn in Family Group 4. There is a genetic distance of 6, with FTDNATip probabilites of 0.00%, 0.00%; 0.00%, 0.01%; 0.05%, and 0.15%, between them and J David Osborn. Therefore it is now believed that David D Osborn was probably not the biological son of Cyrus Osborn.
