William Douglas Meriwether (1809-1878) was the son of Dr. Charles Meriwether and his third wife, Mary Walton, who came to western Kentucky in 1809. William would have reached the age of 21 on November 27, 1830, the month previous to this gift. H never married and died at his home "Meriville" in Todd Co., Kentucky.
