John Travis notes (contemporary historian)
About 1860, J. Law and John Dawson of Walsden built a small mill in Deanroyd Lane, on the opposite side to Deanroyd Mill. The Marland Brothers made the engine and shafting. They worked until the American Civil War, after which their assigns sold the mill to Andrew Pilling & Sons.
