Notes:

Italy Mill was named after an old cottage that once stood on the site and was called "Italy"

Notes from John Travis, contemporary historian:

T. E. Hammerton, solicitor of Todmorden, built Italy Mill for a tenant. It was smaller than Banks Mill and built later.

Italy Mill owned by Hammerton, solicitor, worked until recently as fustian manufacturing by John Sutcliffe, at a standstill. (written in 1901)
