EXTRACT OF WILL OF MARY WOOD

DIED 1773

widow of Walsden

 

Will made 28 April 1773

Proved 14 May 1773

I MARY WOOD of Walsden in Hundersfield, widow, make this my last will.

First it is my will that distribution shall be made of the personal estate of JOHN WOOD, my late husband dec. to which personal estate I have taken out letters of administration, and concerning my own distribution part of such personal estate and all my other personal estate, I dispose thereof as followeth [that is to say],

To my son JOHN WOOD, I give 20/-

To my son in law CHARLES WHITTLES 1/-

All the residue of my said personal estate, I direct to be divided into 5 equal parts.

One part I give to my said son JOHN WOOD

Another to my daughter BETTY wife of JOHN FIELDEN

Another to my daughter ANN wife of JOHN HAIGH

Another to my daughter SARAH WOOD

And the other and last part I give to my granddaughter SARAH WHITTLES, daughter of the said CHARLES WHITTLES, by my daughter MARY, £5 when 21.

And the residue of the last mentioned 5th part over £5, I give to my exor. In trust that he may keep the same during the life of my said daughter MARY and pay the interest thereof to her, my daughter MARY, during her life, or may pay over the principal to her in his discretion, and if anything remain in his hands at her death, shall pay the same equally into and amongst her children.
