In the name of God, Amen. 29th October 1678

I, Nicholas Fielden of the Shore in Stansfield, yeoman, being sick in body etc.

My soul to God, my body to earth.

I give to Mary, my wife, all my messuage, lands etc., at Shore to make sale thereof to satisfy all my debts; if the money so raised will not pay all of them, then I will that they be paid out of my goods, cattells(sic) etc.

The rest I give to my wife to the end that she may maintain and educate all my children till they are xxi years old.

And I commit the rule, tuition, and government of the said children to said wife.
