Old Shop Lane was later nicknamed Pall Mall, then it became Water Street. Oxford Street is behind Water Street, as is Meadow Lane.
The widow Mary Sutcliffe also had rooms at EWOOD MILL and CROW CARR INGS.
Notes from John Travis, contemporary historian:
About 1864, the friends of St. Mary’s Church approached the owners of two upper rooms in Oxford Street, formerly used as a cotton manufactory, with a view to moving the Sunday school to these premises. The owners made the rooms and the approaches suitable for services and the school, and a rent was fixed and agreed. When the new premises were ready the school and services went ahead in these new premises.
