OF ROBERT FIELDEN OF HADES

In the name of God, Amen. The fifteenth day of August in the year of our Lord God one thousand six hundreth twenty and three.
I, Robert Fielden of Hades in the parish of Rochdale and county of Lancaster, husbandman, sick of body but of perfect memory, praised be God, do constitute and make this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say, first and principally I commend my body to the earth and to be buried in the parish churchyard of Rochdale at the direction of my friends……
And another second part I give to my three youngest children, which be these, Deboraye, and Elathan and Prissillaye……
It is my will and mind for to assign and make my eldest son William Fielden that part and parcel of ground lying and being in High Wardle called and commonly known by the name of the Lee, so long as the lease shall endure…..
