Ella, wife of Jeremiah O'Connor of 105 South George street, died at the hospital Tuesday night, aged 21. She was operated upon on Saturday for appendicitis. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Hunt of Lee, and was born there. She was married about three years ago. Deceased was an attractive young lady and had many friends here. Surviving are her husband, parents, one sister, and three brothers, Ollie May, Morris, Ellsworth and Leroy, all of Lee.

Lee Center - May 18 - The remains of Mrs. Charles Ocumpaugh were brought to Evergreen Cemetery for interment Thursday. Mrs. Ocumpaugh died at her home in Poultney, Vt last Sunday, aged 45. Her husband and three children survive.

O'dell, Carrie Dunham

Mrs. Henry Odell, aged 37 years, died from heart trouble at her home, 118 River street, at 9 o’clock this morning. She had been in poor health for a year. Her maiden name was Carrie Dunham. She was a daughter of the late Charles and Martha Dunham and was born in the town of Lee. Nearly all her life had been spent there. She came to Rome about a year ago. Fourteen years ago last month at Lee she was married to Mr. Odell, who survives with three children, Hazel, Stewart and Mabel. She also leaves one brother, George Dunham of Denver. Coll., and one sister, Mrs. E. O. Coon of Lee. Mrs. Odell was a member of the Methodist Church at Lee.

O'dell, Julia Damuth

Westmoreland - March 5 (1936) - Mrs. Julia O’dell, 68, wife of Levi O’dell, passed away early this morning at her home on the Rome-Westmoreland road. She had been in failing health for some time.

She was born in Rome, Ocotober 1, 1867, a daughter of the late Richard and Rebecca Moore Damuth, and was the last of a family of three children. On July 3, 1891, she was married to Mr. O’dell, the ceremony taking place at Lee Center. Before coming to her late home, where she had lived 16 years, she had resided in Verona and Delta. She was a member of the Delta M. E. Church.

Surviving are eight sons, Albert of Fairport, Leon and Garry of Rome, Arthur of Westmoreland, and Harold, Lyle, Samuel and John at home. Another son, Frank O’dell, died in August 1935. She leaves also ten grandchildren and one nephew.

O'Dell, Samuel

Samuel O'Dell, 70, of Rome-Westmoreland Road, an employee of the county Highway Department until his retirement in 1972, died Tuesday in Rome Hospital after a long illness. Born Feb. 11, 1907 in Delta Village, Town of Western, he was the son of Levi & Julia Damuth O'Dell. On June 7, 1931 he married Alice Armstrong in Camden. Educated in Westmoreland schools he also lived in Verona and for the past 51 years in Rome. He worked for a number of years for the Town of Westmoreland Highway Department. Mr. O'Dell was a member of the United Methodist Church, Westmoreland. Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Ruth) Meacham and Mrs. Gordon (Doris) Sprague, both of Rome, three brothers, Leon O'Dell, Garry O'Dell and John O'Dell, all of Rome, and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday of the Martin J. Nunn Funeral Home. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

Olcutt, Claude

Point Rock - Mr. & Mrs. George Olcutt of this place this morning received word that their son, Claude Olcott, aged about 28 years, had been found dead in the road at Pulaski on Sunday afternoon. Mr. Olcott was born in Point Rock and resided here until about two years ago. Recently he had been employed in Pulaski. He was subject to epileptic fits and it is presumed that death came to him during one of the attacks. Besides his parents he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Ambrose Castle of Rome and Mrs. William Burke of Stanwix. Mr. Olcott left this morning for Pulaski to bring the remains to this place for funeral and interment.

Olcott, Chester

A telegram has been received here announcing the death of Chester Olcott. Mr. Olcott, who was in his 81st year, died this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ray Wolfe, at Holly, Michigan, where he had resided for the pst three or four years.

He was born in the town of Lee, the son of Edward Olcott and Esther Brower. Up to the time he left for Michigan he was a resident of Oneida County all his life, having lived in this city for a number of years. His death was caused by the infirmities of age.

Besides the daughter mentioned he is survived by one son, Edward Olcott of Sherrill, several grandchildren, and also two sisters, Mrs. Adney Jacobs of Vernon and mrs. Zilpha C. Wilson of this city. His remains will arrive here Thursday morning and interment will be made in Smith Cemetery, town of Lee.

Native of Lee and was born in 1814..His father was Jared Olcott, a Solider of the Revolution and the War of 1812..Married 69 years

Edward Olcott, aged 89 years, died at 8 am on Sunday a the home of his daughter, Mrs.Jay F. Byam, 323 W. Embargo street, where he had made his home for the past three years. Death was due entirely to old age and general debility incidental to it. Mr. Olcott took to his bed on Thursday and gradually failed until the end came. He was well known through the city and county and was held in the highest esteem by all his acquaintances. As a member of the Methodist Church he was conscientious and faithful.

Edward Olcott was born in the town of Lee, April 17, 1814, and was therefore in his 90th year. With the exception of a few months spent in Jefferson county, he resided in Lee until he came to Rome about three years ago. On Oct. 12, 1834, he was unite din marriage to Miss Esther Brower of Lee, who is still living. After his marriage Mr. Olcott constructed a log house, which they occupied for two years, when he built the house where they lived until coming to Rome.

In politics Mr. Olcott was originally a Democrat, but later changed in his views and became a strong adherent to the Republican party. He held various offices in the town of Lee and often gave advice and counsel to his friends and neighbors. He was a strong advocate of temperance and was a member of the old organization, the Sons of Temperance, when that was flourishing. In religious belief he was a Methodist.

Mr. Olcott was the son of a revolutionary soldier and on May 16, 1896, was elected to honorary membership in the Sons of the American Revolution. This degree of membership is conferred only on actual sons of revolutionary soldiers. He was identified with Gansevoort-Willett Chapter of this city.

Ill in a hospital here since last July, Edmund Olcott, father of Frank Olcott of Capitol Ave, Utica, passed away yesterday afternoon. He was 85 years old. Mr. Olcott was a native of Brodock's Corner.

Olcott, Ethel V. Smith

The death of Mrs. Ethel Smith Olcott, aged 18 years 11 months, occurred at the home of her mother, Mrs. Horace Smith, 201 W. Front Street at 7:30 this morning. The deceased was born in Greig, Lewis County, and when about 8 years of age removed with her parents to Lee, where she resided for ten years, coming to Rome six years ago. Mrs. Olcott's father died in this city in January 1900. The deceased was a young lady who had many friends, made and held by her genial manner and uniform kindness to all with whom she came in contact. Mrs. Olcott had been a sufferer from consumption since October last and for the past two months had been confined to her bed. She bore her illness with patience and fortitude. There survive, besides her mother, two brothers and one sister, Lorenzo L., and H. Roy Smith and Mrs. Ralph Button, all of this city.

The death of Frank Olcott, aged 50 years and 8 months, occurred at his home, 122 N. James street, at 9:45 on Thursday night. Mr. Olcott had been employed at the New York Central freight house and three weeks ago cut his right hand on a box. Blood poison developed and a week ago Mr. Olcott was obliged to give up work. He had since been confined to his home. He was born in the town of Lee and came to Rome with his family eight years ago. He also had lived in East Florence, Lyon Falls and Camden. For a number of years he followed the occupation of farmer. In Lee twenty-seven years ago he was married to Miss Mary Bonner, who, with the following children, survives: Mrs. Leroy Baker and Misses Eva, Minnie, Irene and Martha Olcott of this city. He also leaves one sister and one brother, Mrs. Daniel Wilson of Rome and William Olcott of Point Rock.

Rome - George Edward Olcott, one of the best known and influential residents of Point Rock, died at his home there this forenoon. He was born 77 years ago last December within a quarter of a mile of the place where he died. He was the oldest son of Edward and Esther Olcott. He served in the Civil War for three years as a member of the One Hundred and Seventeenth Regiment, Battery C. As the result of paralysis he had been in poor health for three years. Surviving are his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Ambrose Castle of this city, and Mrs. William Burk of Stokes, and one brother and three sisters, Chester Olcott of Holly, Mich., Mrs. Jay F. Byam and Mrs. Andrew Wilson of Rome, and Mrs. Adney Jacobs of Vernon. Mr. Olcott was a member of the M. E.Church at Point Rock.

Point Rock - Mrs. Mary McCoy, 65, widow of William Olcott, died late Tuesday in a Rome hospital where she had been confined for about a week. Mrs. Olcott, a resident of Point Rock for approximately 30 years, was born in Utica on March 21, 1867.

She was married to Mr. Olcott 30 years ago. He died several years ago. There are no near living relatives.

Olcott, Mary A. Smith

Stokes - Mrs. Mary A. Olcott, 89, widow of George Olcott, passed away this morning at 8 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Burke, Stokes-Lee Center Road. She had been ill about a year.

She was born September 9, 1848, at New Berne, North Carolina, a daughter of the late David and Mary Smith. Her marriage took place in 1864. Mr. Olcott died February 20, 1917. She had come to the Burke home about a year ago and previously had lived at 814 Elm St., Rome. She attended the M. E. Church.

Besides the daughter at whose home she died, she leaves another daughter, Mrs. Mame Castle of Rome, and a grandson, Robert Burke. A son, Claude Olcott, died about 30 years ago.

Oram, Belva Craver

Mrs. Harry G. Oram, 81, a resident of Point Rock for many years, died Saturday at the Masonic Home, Utica.

The former Belva C. Craver, she was born in North Annsville August 18, 1889, daughter of Francis and Lucinda Worden Craver. Her early life was spent at North Annsville and on December 25, 1907, was married to Mr. Oram in Lee Center. After their marriage they settled at Point Rock where they lived for 42 years. Mr. Oram died July 23, 1942. After his death Mrs. Oram was employed as a practical nurse. She lived in Rome for a time before going to Utica.

Mrs. Oram entered the Masonic Home two years ago. She was a life member of the Point Rock United Methodist Church, was church organist, a member of its WSCS and had served as secretary of that society for several years. She was a member of the Epworth League and of Lake Delta Chapter, OES.

Surviving are a son, W. Francis Oram, Blossvale, two daughters, Mrs. Herbert (Agnes)Dashnau, Fulton, and Mrs. Ruth Betz, Utica, eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Mrs. Esther Conde died in 1959.

Oram, Harry J.

Point Rock - Harry J. Oram, 56, died at his home here early this morning. He had been ill for a year and seriously ill for two weeks.

He was born at Redfield January 23, 1886, son of William and Nettie Williams Oram. At Lee Center on December 25, 1907 he married Belva L. Craver, the Rev. D. R. Smith performing the ceremony.

He was a member of Point Rock Methodist Church and of Baron Steuben Lodge, & AM, Lee Center. He was for many years operator of the stage between Point Rock and Rome and was a lover of hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his wife, a son, W. Francis Oram, Point Rock, three daughters, Mrs. Herbert Dashnau, Fulton, Mrs. Lawrence Betz, Point Rock, and Miss Esther Oram, Rome, five grandchildren, two brothers, Elwood, Hopewell Junction, LI, and Leon Oram, Lee Center, three sisters, Ida, Mrs. Arthur Mowers, Geneva, and Mrs. Arthur Gleasman, Manchester.

The body is resting at the home where freinds may call up to and including Saturday evening.

Oram, William

Point Rock - At the Rome Hospital on Saturday evening occurred the death of William Oram, a well known and highly esteemed resident of this place. He had been in poor health for several years and his condition became more serious eight months ago.

Mr. Oram was one of the most highly respected citizens of the northern part of Oneida County. He was a man of keen intelligence, high principles and genial nature. For more than 20 years he resided on the farm at Point Rock which he conducted industriously until a few years ago when due to his physical condition, he relinquished its management to his son, W. Elwood Oram.

He took an active interest in the welfare of the community, was a staunch Republican, filled the offices of constable and assessor, was appointed justice of the peace to fill a vacancy four years ago and the following year was elected to that office, which he retained until the time of his death. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.

William Oram was born in Florence on June 12, 1858, son of the late Henry and Louisa Madams Oram, natives of England. He was married October 5, 1884 to Nettie Williams of Point Rock, who survives with these sons and daughters, Harry G. and W. Elwood, Point Rock, Leon F., Attica, Mrs. Arthur Mowers, Geneva, Mrs. Arthur Gleasman, Boonville, Mrs. Thomas R. Hutton, New York City, and 12 grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers, Henry, Fairport, and Albert, Camden, and a half brother, Frank Colclough, Camden.
