Captions on all photos read "Camp Wadsworth, S.C. 1918" or something similar unless otherwise noted.  There are some photos of the men Gordon shared quarters with or was friends with, but I don't know any of their names.  Some of these might be men he mentions in the journal, but I don't know which names would go with which faces.  I also don't know much about the army or World War I, so if you have corrected information about what's going on in any of these photos, feel free to email me.

There is a scanned map of the camp on another web site at The Brooklyn Genealogy Information Site.  This is a very large image file and may take a few minutes to load completely.

•    Private Gordon Van Kleeck at Camp Wadsworth, South Carolina in 1918.  The caption on the photo on the right reads "Private G(o)rdon Van Kleeck 1918"

•  This appears to be an overall view of Camp Wadsworth, or at least the area where the men lived.

•  This looks like it might be mail call.

•  Gordon and friends (all unidentified) in their quarters.  Gordon is the man with the mustache standing in center rear.

•  Another photo of Gordon (far left) and unidentified friends.

•    Two photos of unidentified soldiers at Camp Wadsworth.  At some point after I first scanned and uploaded these photos, the album they were in was cut apart by a relative and the portion of the photo of the man on the left below about the middle of his calf is now lost.  I can't tell even in the high-resolution scan whether he's actually wearing a monocle or just clowning with some kind of hook or fastener.

•  Two unidentified soldiers standing in a trench.

•  Firing range.

•  This dam may have been part of a training area.

•  Jack's Restaurant - (mentioned in part 1 of Gordon's journal) sign over bottom floor reads "SOLDIERS WELCOME TO VERA..."  The last word is obscured by the small white sign in front of it on the far right, which reads "Printing - Developing"
