The Pender families of the Isles of Scilly have been difficult to sort out genealogically. I will eventually set these out on a separate set of pages.

Barnard Pender (son of Robert Pender and Joice Hicks) was a farmer of Bryher. He married Elizabeth Jenkins Pender (daughter of Walter Pender and Grace Pender). Their children were

Joseph, Eliza, Frederick, Joshua, Walter, Betsy, Barnard, Robert, Mary and Richard.

Frederick (William) Pender married Eliza Trayer Jenkin, and their children were

William John (pilot Bryher), Lyndemyra, Frederick, Joshua, Elizabeth Ann and Samuel Jenkins (Farmer/Fisherman of Bryher).

Eliza Mary Pender was a daughter of Barnard Pender (a shopkeeper on St Mary’s)  his wife Mary Ann Jenkins. Joshua Pender married his cousin Eliza Mary Pender.

Joshua continued farming and as a fisherman on Bryher. Their children were George (Captain), Sydney, Eliza Mary and Winefred. Eliza Mary married Albert Edward Eddy (“Pops”), the fizzy drinks king of Penzance.

Winefred Pender married Francis Orlando Thompson (my grandparents).

Bank Cottage, Bryher, always feels like home.
