Basil Forward’s CRS10
My uncle was a very jolly,
robust and kind person.
He was born in Penzance and he
joined the Merchant Navy in 1939.
When my father died, I discovered
a little notebook, in which my father
had written “Basil Forward,
Athelvictor, Tankers Ltd, Liverpool”.
From there, I discovered more
about Athel ships,
and then through someone’s kind
generosity,
I had the full details of Basil
Forward’s Merchant Navy Career.
This set me on a two year
search for information on his ships.
People have been very kind, and
now I can set this all out here.
I have set out the list of
ships as set out in the Seaman’s Pouch : CRS10,
together with details and
pictures of the ships.
Along the way, I came to
realise that he was very lucky.
