TMG Users Jim Byram, Carol Oswalt, and Phil Lloyd have developed some
bitmaps for users who wish to customize their TMG toolbar. Instructions:
- Download the zipped file by clicking here.
- Unzip the file using WinZip (if you don't have WinZip, you can
download it here).
Remember which folder you unzipped the files to (recommend you create
a new folder called "buttons" or "toolbars" under
the folder you saved the TMG program in. If you used the default
folder at the time you installed the program, the it would be \TMGW for
TMG v4.x and \Program Files\The Master Genealogist for TMG 5).
- Skip to step 5 for instructions to add the new
buttons in TMG 5.
- To add the new buttons to your TMG v4.x toolbar:
- Launch TMG v4.x
- From the drop-down menus, choose Tools, Options
- From the System Configuration window, click on the Toolbar tab
- In the "Unused buttons:" window, scroll to the command
you wish to create a toolbar for and select it. Click on the
<< Add button below that window. This will add the
command to the bottom of the left window.
- Scroll to the newly added command at the bottom of the left
window and select it. Move it to where you want the icon to appear
by clicking on the "Move Up" and "Move Down"
buttons.
- Highlight the command you just added and select the Properties
button. This will take you to the Edit Toolbar Button window.
- Click on the "Bitmap (*.BMP)" radio button, then click
on the "Browse" button next to that field.
- Scroll down to the bmp file that contains the image you want
displayed on your icon and click "Select".
- Click "OK" and then "OK" again. The new icon
is now on your toolbar.
- To add the new buttons to your TMG 5 toolbar:
- Launch TMG 5
- From the drop-down menus, choose View, Toolbars, Customize
- From the Custom Toolbar Manager window, highlight the command
you want to add to the toolbar in the Unused buttons window and
click <<Add.
- Click on the radio button next to Picture for a Picture button
and click the Locate button to browse to an image for the button.
- Highlight the icon you want to use and click the Select button.
- Type in a tool tip in the ToolTip message field and click OK.
The new icon is now on your toolbar.
