7. Henry Clay Turner was born in 1846 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, NC. He died on 8 May 1895 at the age of 49 in Union County, NC. He was buried in Antioch United Methodist, Union County NC.

1. Found living with his brother Francis Marion on 1870 census. Also listed living with brother Robert and sister Nancy.
2. Died of Tuberculosis (?) in 1895.
3. Six of his children were underage at the time of his death. The maternal grandfather (James Haywood) sent the children to the orphanage at Barium Springs, NC. Application for enrollment indicated Henry Clay was 'industrious but unsuccessful'.

John A, Samuel F, Sylvan C, Barney, Zula Elvira, Bartley.

Henry Clay Turner and Etta Haywood were married on 7 March 1876 in the house of James Haywood in Sandy Ridge, Union County. Etta Haywood, daughter of James Madison Haywood, was born on 14 August 1855. She died on 3 November 1893 at the age of 38 in Union County, NC. She was buried in Antioch United Methodist, Union County NC.

1. Was sister to Manerva Catherine, the wife of Francis Marion Turner.

Murray M. Turner was born in 1878 in Union County, NC. He died on 30 October 1917 at the age of 39 in Morganton State Hospital, Burke County, NC.

Sylvan Clinton Turner was born in August 1884 in Union County, NC. He died on 6 November 1919 at the age of 35 at Broughton Hospital, Morganton NC. He was buried in Broughton Hospital Cemetery, Morganton, NC.

1. Was brought to the Barium Springs Orphanage, Iredell County NC on March 24 1895.
2. Sylvan enlisted in the military for WW I. He was stationed at Fort Totten, NY in 1910, but was eventually turned away due to being listed as 'insane'. Last known residence was with his eldest brother, James M. Turner in Pineville.
3. Lived in the Morganton State Hospital with his cousin, Thomas J, at the same time. Sylvan's reason for enlistement in the state hospital was due to Dementia Precox (Schizophrenia). He was brought to Morganton on Sept 4, 1918.
4. Death listed as 'Acute Enteritis with Diarrhea' (Dysentery).
5. Never married.
