4. Francis Marion Turner was born in 1837 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, NC. He died in 1887 at the age of 50. He was buried in Antioch United Methodist, Union County NC.

1. FM Turner enlisted in the Confederacy on April 15, 1862 at age 25. He served in the 49th Regiment, Co. F.
2. Sent to Danville VA, Aug 23 - Aug. 31 1862.
3. Records indicate FM sent to Richmond medical office Sept. 24, 1864

Francis Marion Turner and Manerva Catherine Haywood were married on 30 January 1873 in the house of James Haywood in Sandy Ridge, Union County. Manerva Catherine Haywood, daughter of James Madison Haywood and Elvira Helms, was born in 1851 in Union County, NC. She died on 21 May 1915 at the age of 64. She was buried on 22 May 1915 in Antioch United Methodist, Union County NC.

1. Sister of Etta Haywood, wife of Henry Clay Turner.
2. A law came into effect on March 8, 1909 which allowed Confederate Soldiers, Sailors and Widows to receive a pension for their service. Applied for Confederate Widow's pension on July 5, 1909 in Union County at 58 years old.
3. Lived in Vance Township, Union County NC in 1910.

Francis Marion Turner and Manerva Catherine Haywood had the following children:

15	ii.	James Richard Turner was born in 1877 in Union County, North Carolina. He died before 1941 at the age of 64.
16	iii.	Robert L. Turner was born in 1879 in Union County, North Carolina. He died before 1941 at the age of 62.

+18	v.	William Perry "Joyner" Turner.
19	vi.	Thomas Jefferson Turner was born on 10 February 1886. He died of 'Generalized Encephalomalacia with marked mental deterioration' on 30 May 1961 at the age of 75. He was buried in Antioch United Methodist, Union County NC. 1. Thomas Turner was admitted to the Broughton mental hospital in Burke County on Feb. 21, 1918. He was diagnosed with Dementia Precox (Schizophrenia). 2. He was never married. 3. Thomas was in the same institution, at the same time, as his cousin Sylvan C. Turner.
