Beatrice M. Neils

Beatrice N. Neils, 74, of 17925 County Road X, went to her eternal rest on Monday, March 6, 2000 at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center, where she had been a patient for the past two weeks.

Beatrice was born March 7, 1925 in the town of Schleswig, the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Binversie) Mueller. Beatrice attended Holy Trinity School.

Beatrice Mueller and Milan Neils were united in marriage on April 27, 1946.

They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 1996. The couple farmed in the town of Schleswig, retiring in 1982. Beatrice enjoyed gardening, playing cards and her nightly game of scrabble with her husband.

She was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in School Hill, where she was also a member of the Christian Women.

She is survived by her husband Milan, her three sons, Glenn (Delores), Randy (Sandy) and Mark (Sandy), all of Kiel. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Craig (fiancee, Tola) and Christopher, Stephanie and Ryan and Joseph (special friend, Nicole), Jon, Eric and Erin. She is also survived by one sister, Rita Thiel, Sheboygan; four sisters-in-laws, Ruth (Henry) Arpke, Elkhart Lake, Arleen Gahagan, Valerie (Mutzie) Neils, Gladys (Milton) Mueller, all of Kiel, Lois (Dale) Brault of El Dorado; and three brothers-in-law, William (Theresa) Neils, Elwood (Joyce) Neils, both of Elkhart Lake, and Jerome Neils of Kiel. She was preceded in death by two infant children, Mary and Gregory; her sister, Judith and her brothers-in-law, Frederick Thiel, Hugh Gahagan and Warren Neils.

Funeral Mass will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2000 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill with the Rev. Gerald Sirois, pastor, and Deacon James Steffen officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday at the CHURCH, from 3 p.m. until the time of service.

A memorial has been established in her name.

Rosalie S. Valleskey

Rosalie S. Valleskey, 87, of Kiel, died Monday, March 6, 2000 at her home.

Rosalie is the former Rosalie Bleck born April 15, 1912 in Valders, daughter of the late Edward and Augusta Peters Bleck. She was a 1930 graduate of Valders High School.

On June 16, 1932, she married Adonis Valleskey in Valders. He preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1955.

Prior to retirement, Rosalie worked for many years at Lake-to-Lake, Kiel.

She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Louis Corners, the Ladies Aid and was a former member of the Manitowoc County Homemakers.

Rosalie loved to cook and was especially fond of gardening, where she took extra special care of her roses.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Ruth Valleskey, New Holstein; one son, David (Barbara) Valleskey, New Holstein; one daughter, Valonn (Joseph) Lettenberger, Green Lake; 10 grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her son, Valgene Valleskey, two brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2000 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Louis Corners, with the Rev. Ted Olsen, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at the CHURCH, on Thursday, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church or PKU organization of Wisconsin.

Age 39, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 6, 2000 at Theda Clark Medical Center. He was born May 16, 1960, in Gilroy, California. He is the son of Theodore and Josa Faye (Johnston) Floros. He married Mari Miller on June 12, 1992, in Oshkosh. George worked at First Supply Group, formerly known as W.S. Patterson. He was a loving husband, father and best friend.

Survivors include his loving wife of seven years, Mari; a son, Anthony Floros, Oshkosh; a stepson, Patrick Minehan, at home; a stepdaughter, Susan Minehan, at home; his father, Theodore (Edna) Floros, Gilroy, California; two brothers, Gary (Darlene) Floros, Raleigh, North Carolina; Gregg (Brandi) Floros, Omaha, Nebraska; a niece, Laura Floros, Raleigh, North Carolina; a nephew, Rett Floros, Omaha, Nebraska. George is further survived by his mother-in-law, Susan (Paul) Stevenson, Mesa, Arizona; his father-in-law, Harry Miller, Neenah, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Josa Faye Floros.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2000, at 1 p.m. at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home with the Reverend Joel Schlachtenhaufen officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah. Family and friends will be received on Thursday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.

Age 76, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at Theda Clark Medical Center. She was born on December 5, 1923, in Waukau, Wisconsin, daughter of the late A. Glen and Johanna (Nelson) Steele. Mary married Gordon C. Johnson on April 23, 1944, at the home of her parents. She attended Oshkosh Teachers College. Mary was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church where she was very active. She loved gardening and stamp collecting.

Survivors include her husband, Gordon C.; daughters, Mary Ann (James) Wruck, Kristine J. (James) Zeinert; son, Gordon J. (Cindi) Johnson, all of Neenah; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Dunkel, Christopher (special friend, Dawn Bartman) Wruck, Jason (Karie) Zeinert, Benjamin and Alex Johnson; six great-grandchildren, Sydnee Dunkel, Nathanael and Zachary Wruck, Lily, Maya and Jack Zeinert; a sister, Edith (Glen) Koepke, Redgranite; other relatives and friends. Mary was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Miles C. Wruck.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 10, 2000, at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 1228 S. Park Avenue, Neenah, with the Reverend Terry Ahlemeyer officiating. Regina C. Kalwitz
Appleton

Age 90, died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at Franciscan Care Center. She was born in the Town of Center on May 5, 1909, to Herbert and Anna (Lillge) Hoerning. On December 17, 1927, she married Louis Kalwitz. He preceded her in death on October 12, 1982. Regina was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and belonged to the Altar Guild for many years. She loved working outside in the yard with her flowers and garden. She belonged to the Canasta Club for 25 years and spent much of her time crocheting afghans.

She is survived by two sons, Melvin (Ginny), Winneconne; and Gerald (Maureen), Appleton; two brothers, Edward (Madeline) Hoerning and Gordon Burmeister, both of New London; a sister, Joyce (Oakie) Colden, New London; a daughter-in-law, Mary, Milwaukee; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Louis Jr. and Herbert; a brother, Russell Hoerning; a sister, Ruth Drews-Schimke; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Burmeister; and granddaughter, Connie Kalwitz.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2000, at 12 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Appleton. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy a memorial fund has been established.

Age 89, formerly of Menasha, died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at Vallhaven Care Center, Neenah. He was born December 8, 1910, in Menasha, son of Anton and Minnie (Lloyd) Loerke. He was engaged in farming for most of his life. John was a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church, Menasha. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and playing cards. There are no immediate survivors. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Joshua W. Mallo
Menasha

Age 29, formerly of Weyauwega, died unexpectedly Monday, March 6, 2000. He was born March 11, 1970, in New London, son of William and Joan (Luedtke) Mallo. Joshua graduated from Weyauwega-Fremont High School with the Class of 1989. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of Desert Storm. He was an assistant crew chief on a B52 Bomber. Following his discharge from the Air Force he lived in Menasha and was employed by International Papers in the Akrosil division.

He is survived by his parents, William and Jane Mallo, Weyauwega; two brothers, Jason (Kelly) Mallo, Scandinavia; Matthew, at home; a sister, Kassondra, at home; his paternal grandfather, Warren Mallo, Weyauwega; a niece, Karissa Christianson, special friend, Eric Christianson, Waupaca; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and paternal grandmother.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2000, at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Weyauwega. The Reverend Barry Hoerz will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Weyauwega. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service.

Age 51, passed away Monday, March 6, 2000, at Theda Clark Medical Plaza after a brief illness. She was born October 20, 1948, in Neenah, daughter of Velma (Peters) and the late Ambrose Naleway. Ruth had been a Twin Cities resident all of her life. She was employed at Work Adjustment Services of Neenah for 30 years.

Survivors include her mother, Velma, Neenah; a sister, Karen (Forrest) Genett, Neenah; a brother, David (Debbie) Naleway, Neenah; two nephews, Rod Genett, Clint (special friend, Charity) Genett; two nieces, Jennifer and Rebecca Naleway; special family members, Lila Staedt, Richard (Dawn) Staedt, Ellen (Michael) Shabow and their children, Carol (Art) Julius and their family, Edward Naleway, Gertrude Manteufel and her family.

Age 77, died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at the Appleton Medical Center. She was born October 23, 1922, in Shawano, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Edward and Helen (Wanie) Pleshek. Lila enjoyed crafts, especially crocheting. She also enjoyed putting together puzzles, working crosswords and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Kaukauna, where she was a member of the Women's Guild.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon (Ron) Mach, Iola; six sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry (Sharon) Pitt, Larry (Janet) Pitt, Keith (Cindy) Pitt, Tom (Linda) Pitt, all of Kaukauna; Ron (Sandy) Pitt, Neenah; Bob (Nancy) Pitt, Appleton; 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy (Pearl) Pleshek, Kaukauna; Roger (Ruth) Pleshek, Oconto; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son, James; two grandsons, Brian Mach and Adam Pitt; and a sister, Violet Jansen.

Richard L. "Ricky" Pyszora

Age 34, passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 6, 2000 at, Theda Clark Medical Center. He was born April 2, 1965, in Neenah, son of Ronald Pyszora and Barbara (Weber) Couillard. Ricky worked at Valley Packaging and Pappa's Cafe in Neenah. He was very involved with Special Olympics. He loved the Green Bay Packers, especially Brett Favre.

Survivors include his father, Ronald (Debbie) Pyszora, Neenah; his mother, Barbara (Ken) Couillard, Appleton; two brothers, Todd (Julie) Pyszora, Neenah; David (Mary Beth) Pyszora, Appleton; maternal grandmother, Alice Weber; four step sisters, Laurie (Tom) Olson, Hurley; Jody Behnke, Menasha; Kathy (John) Willis, Denmark; Kerri Beschta, New London; a niece, Emily Pyszora, Waukesha; aunts and uncles, Andrea Spears, Menasha; Pete and Marcia Pyszora, Appleton; Chuck and Jeanne Weber, Chaska, Minnesota; Bob and Kris Weber, Menasha; Jim and Lisa Weber, Green Bay; and numerous cousins. Myrinda "Randy" C. Springer
Zephyrhills, Florida

Age 73, formerly of New London, died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at her home in Florida after a brief illness. She was born September 6, 1926, in Rudolph, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Ed and Bertha (Stampflee) Fry. On January 29, 1944, she married Glen A. Springer at Park Falls, Wisconsin. Myrinda worked many years at the Hamilton Canning Factory, Simmons Inc., and as custodian of the U.C.C. Church. She served her church as historian and was an active member of the Women's Fellowship. Myrinda and Glen moved to Zephyrhills, Florida, four years ago. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in New London.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Glen; four children, James (Kathy) Springer, York Springs, Pennsylvania; Gerald (Jenny) Springer, Bella Vista, Arkansas; Sandra (Bruce) Kloehn, New London; Ronald (Deborah) Springer, Fremont; a brother, Charles Fry, Park Falls. She is further survived by ten grandchildren, Wayne (Debbie) Springer, Heather (Rob) Kaminiski, Stanley Springer and his fiancee Danelle, David (Emily) Rhoden, Mardi (Chris) Brenneman, Jared Springer, Andrew Springer and his fiancee Jenny, Nichole Kloehn, Kaylene Kloehn, Joseph Springer; four special great-grandchildren, Alexander Kaminiski, Brent Brenneman, Casey Rose Brenneman, and "Soon to be" baby Springer. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lottie Rueggar and Mabel Harris; also her brothers, Herbert and Donald Fry.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 11, 2000 at 1 p.m., at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in New London with the Reverend Luke Bocher officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery in New London. Friends may call at the Cline and Hanson Funeral Home in New London from 4 until 8 p.m. on Friday and from Noon on Saturday at the church until the time of the service.

Myrinda was Sis or Randy to some, Mom to many, Grandma to many more and Great Mama from Florida to the latest Four. We will miss "What can I get cha, Would you like some soup? Are you warm enough? Do you need a sweater? I brought you a bottle of Vicks and some chicken soup. There are more blankets and the beds are made up. Come over and sit a spell. Could you sqeeze together for one more picture? I made some Jello and can I get you anything else?" She was always the first to greet you with a hug and always said the last good-bye with a squeeze. In her pocketbook she always carried enough mints, gum, Kleenex and bananas for all of us. She graciously left us on March 5th when the Lord took her home where once again, in his time, she will be waiting to greet us with open arms. We love you and miss you so.

Milda Zarins
Appleton

Age 103, died on Monday, March 6, 2000, at Colony Oaks Care Center. Milda was born on June 17, 1896, in Latvia and came to the United States in 1950.

She is survived by her son, Gunars (Helene) Zarins, Appleton; three grandchildren, Ingrid (Thomas) Ebner, Nora (Anthony) Herbst, and Erik (Janis) Zarins; six great-grandchildren, Adam and Alexandra Ebner, Paul and Jordan Herbst, and Alexander and Kayla Zarins; three step-great-grandchildren, Heather, Anthony and Sarah Batzler; sister-in-law, Dr. Diana Konton, Chicago, Illinois; and four nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, three sisters, and a sister-in-law.

Funeral Services will be Friday, March 10, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Reverend John Kinens officiating. Friends may call at 10 a.m. Friday until the time of services. Burial will follow services at the Riverside Cemetery.

Tom and Jane Montour
Deborah Jane Montour, age 46, and Thomas A. Montour, age
48, of W6909 Lake Drive, Shawano, died Monday, March 6,
2000, from injuries received in a traffic accident.
Jane was born July 22, 1953, in Milwaukee, the daughter of
Betty (Thiede-Ferry) Olson, and the late Charles D. Ferry.
Tom was born Sept. 10, 1951, in Shawano to Marjorie
(Gehrke) Montour and the late Lester R. Montour.
They were married July 14, 1973, in Milwaukee. They were
members of the Shawano United Methodist Church. They both
enjoyed riding motorcycles and were members of the Wolf River
Hog Chapter, Shawano.
Jane owned and operated Country School Charm, Shawano.
She was a member of Shawano Eiderdowns and enjoyed doing
craft work, driving her car, and decorating her home and business
for the holidays.
Tom owned and operated Montour Incorporated of Shawano
and Clintonville, and From the Hearth by Montours, Clintonville,
and was a former partner of the Landmark Hotel, Clintonville. He
was a member of Shawano Rotary Club and A.S.H.R.E.A. He
was always busy with a remodeling project.
They are survived by: three sons, Chad (fiancee, Beth
Erickson), Chris (special friend, Amanda Valenta), and James, all
of Shawano.
Jane is further survived by: her mother and stepfather, Betty
and Arthur Olson, Milwaukee; sister, Karen (Paul) Shackelford,
Ft. Meyers, Fla.; brother, James (Carol) Ferry, Milwaukee.
Tom is further survived by: his mother, Marjorie Montour,
Shawano; two sisters, Nancy Montour, Kansas City, Kan., and
Marshia (Jan) Berg, Appleton. They both are survived by nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends
Tom was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 11, at 11 a.m. at
Peace United Church of Christ, Shawano, with the Rev. Raymond
Coombs and the Rev. Jacob Pruess officiating. Burial will be in
Lake Drive Cemetery , Town of Wescott. Friends may call at
Swedberg Funeral Home, Shawano, on Friday, March 10, from 4
until 8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Saturday, at the church until the time
of services.



Bernard “BJ” Brady, age 85, Caroline, passed away Monday,
March 6, 2000, at Appleton Medical Center in Appleton. The
Rhodes & Beil Funeral Home in Tigerton is assisting the family.
Bernard Joseph Brady was born July 9, 1914, at Tigerton, the
son of the late Edward H. and Etta Brady. He was a graduate of
Tigerton High School and was united in marriage to Helen Berg at
Tigerton. On Jan. 5, 1952, Bernard was united in marriage to Ruth
Mae Gruenstern at Tigerton. She passed away in September of
1983. On May 12, 1984, Bernard was united in marriage to
Marcella Hubert Peterman at Marion. BJ was a lifetime resident of
the area, living in the Town of Wyoming, rural Tigerton and in
Caroline since 1984. During the 1940’s, BJ was a director of the
Tigerton bank and lived his life as a master carpenter in the area,
building houses and anything of wood. He was a member of St.
Mary’s Catholic Church in Marion and St. Anthony’s Catholic
Church in Tigerton. BJ loved horses, harness racing, a good chew
and building things for his family.
Survivors include: his wife, Marcella; one son, William (Mary)
Brady of Tigerton; three stepchildren, Sharon (Carl) Briske of
Pella, Judy (Don) Blaese of Appleton, Jeannie (Harold) Schmidt
of Marion; four grandchildren, William J. (Sandy) Brady of
Tigerton, Brenda A. (Scott) Wedemayer of Tigerton, Burton E.
(Juli) Brady of Tigerton, Bruce A. (special friend, Michelle) Brady
of Tigerton; seven great-grandchildren, Melanie, Brandon, Jeremy,
Joshua, Amanda, Rachael, Scott; ten step-grandchildren; one
sister, Helen Berg of Tigerton; one brother, Patrick (Irene) Brady
of Tigerton. BJ was preceded in death by his parents, an infant
great-granddaughter and one brother, Melvin Brady.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 9, at
10:30 a.m., at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Tigerton with
Father Michael Carroll officiating. Burial will be in Union
Cemetery in Tigerton. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. this
evening, at Rhodes & Beil Funeral Home in Tigerton and again on
Thursday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of
services.

 


John Joseph Short was welcomed into Eternal Life by Our
Heavenly Father on March 6, 2000, at a local hospital.
He was born May 1, 1918, to Albert and Jenny Short. On
Nov. 29, 1944, he was united in marriage to Frances Kleczewski
at Hofa Park. John loved his wife and family, was devoted to his
church, and was passionate about farming. He was a lifetime
member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Navarino, serving
many years as trustee and usher. He was a 50 year member of the
Catholic Knights. John took great pride in farming his whole life
and was a member of the National Farmers Organization for many
years.
Survivors include: his wife, Frances; sons, Ken (Marge) Short,

Theodore C.

Theodore C. Amenson, 77, joined his wife, Agnes, in Heaven on what would have
been her 75th birthday, Tuesday, March 7, 2000. He was born April 8, 1922, in
Green Bay to the late Chester and Jenny (Taylor) Amenson. He was a U.S. Army
veteran of World War II, stationed in Europe. On Sept. 24, 1942, he married the
former Agnes Boehm at Holy Martyrs of Gorcum Catholic Church; she preceded
him in death April 28, 1994. Ted was employed by Crosby's Heavy Duty Wrecker
Service for many years, and later restored cars from his home. He was an avid
Packers fan and enjoyed reading, fishing and particularly restoring cars
(especially Mustangs).

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Karen Amenson, Little
Suamico; and John and Carol Amenson, Abrams; five daughters and sons-in-law,
Barbara and Dale Preslaski, Green Bay; Patricia and Roger Berg, Green Valley;
Marcia and John Wertelusky, Green Bay; Linda and Richard Lax, Green Bay; and
Cindy and Curtis Frisque, Suamico; 19 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one
brother and sister-in-law, John and Martha Amenson, Cadillac, Mich.; three
sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Robert Sucharski, Caladonia, Mich.;
Virginia and Edward Splingaire, River Grove, Ill.; Elmeda and Bill Hill,

Baillie, Brian

Brian Baillie, 57, passed away March 1, 2000, at University of Wisconsin Hospital
in Madison. He was born Nov. 26, 1942, the son of George and Helen Baillie.
Brian was a graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. He
excelled at football, basketball and particularly baseball. He was active throughout
his life as a player, coach and fan. He served in the United States Army 1967 to
1968. Brian was active with Big Brothers and Mentored troubled youths. He was
also an avid reader, music fan, art lover, gardener and motorcycle enthusiast. For
many years Brian was employed at Fort Howard Corp. as Director of Advertising
and Marketing Services from 1987 until 1993. Most recently, he was employed at
S & S Cycle in Viola.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; children, Kathryn Nicholson, John Nicholson,
Kristin (David) Schrader; grandson, Levi Schrader; mother, Helen Baillie; sister,
Bonnie (Richard) Konsinowski; brother, Geoffrey (Lynn) Baillie; special nieces,
nephews, friends and animal companions.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

A memorial fund has been established in Brian's name to benefit organizations
serving needy children and homeless animals.

Catherine (Mrs. Thomas "Kate") Farrell, 78, 1305 Brookwood Dr., Ashwaubenon,
died Monday, March 6, 2000. She was born Sept. 2, 1921 to the late Joseph and
Mary (Zeitler) Spoerl. On July 15, 1944 she married Thomas Farrell at St. Patrick
Catholic Church, Green Bay. She enjoyed her family and friends and was active in
several card clubs.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Pat Richardson, John Farrell and
his special friend Emilie, all of Green Bay; Bill and Marsha Farrell, Suamico; Mary
and Augustine Rodriguez, Rice Lake, Wis.; Liz and John Stewart, Lexington, Ky.;
Eileen and Kim Flinchum, Green Bay; Michael and Marilyn Farrell, Madison,
Wis.; Jean and Paul Holtan, Madison; Katie and Dave Wingert, St. Paul, Minn.;
25 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Marcella Holubar, Green Bay;
three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Bernadette Spoerl, Niles, Mich.; Arleen
Hanaway, Greenleaf; Kay Berg, De Pere; and Ed Farrell, Appleton.

She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas in 1984; a son, Michael John
in 1946; a grandson, Erik Holtan; two brothers, Joseph and Gibby; and two
sisters, Ginny and Becky.

2 to 6 p.m. Thursday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at
the church with the Rev. James Hablewitz officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick

Everyone should be so lucky to have a mother like Kate. The door of the Farrell's
was always open to family and friends. If friends were at the house at mealtimes
there were extra place settings and enough food to feed them. She was a born
storyteller and could throw a party together in record time. Eleven-Eleven. God

Mrs. Mary "Peg"

Mrs. Mary "Peg" Gooding, 83, Green Bay, died peacefully Monday, March 6,
2000, at a local nursing home on her late husband Robert's birthday. She was
born on May 25, 1916, in Green Bay to the late Max and Margaret (Decker)
Schmidt. On July 11, 1936, Peg married Robert Gooding. He preceded her in
death on Oct. 6, 1991. She was a long time member at Grace Lutheran Church
and a member of the Priscilla Circle. She was a devoted mother to her children,
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all of her cats. She also loved gardening,
outdoors, and traveling.

Survivors include four sons, Al (Mary Ann) Gooding, Allouez; Jim (Marianne)
Gooding, Allouez; Tom Gooding, Green Bay; John (Liezel) Gooding, Robinsdale,
Minn.; one daughter, Judi Cropsey and her special friend Dan Wilhelm, Green
Bay; one daughter-in-law, Gayle Gooding, Green Bay; many grandchildren and
great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Terry Gunderson, Waupun; nephews and
nieces; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one son, Michael; one son-in-law, Earl Cropsey;

Kasten, Arthur A.

Arthur A. Kasten, 92, Bonduel, died Monday, March 6, 2000, at Deerview
Meadows Assisted Living Facility, Shawano. He was born March 28, 1907, to the
late Johann Fredric and Mathilda (Bahrke) Kasten in the Town of Angelica. Arthur
married Esther Moede March 28, 1930, in Waukegan, Ill. The couple lived in Long
Lake where Arthur worked as a logger until they moved to a farm north of Bowler
in 1936. Arthur was an active member of the community and was involved as a
leader of the Ever Ready 4-H Club, served on the Bowler School Board and the
Farm Bureau and Equity Organizations and the Bowler Advancement Association.
The Kastens retired from farming in 1968 and moved to Bonduel where Arthur
worked for Equity Livestock and Froelich Upholstery. He was a member of St.
Paul Lutheran Church, Bonduel and served on the Men's Club, Usher and
Cemetery Committees. He resided at Deerview Meadows since 1998.

Survivors include his wife, Esther; and children, Betty Ann (John) Bowers,
Sturgeon Bay; Fred (Jane) Kasten, Omro; Judy (Charles) Aldrian, Birchwood;
Roger (Pearl) Kasten, Shawano; Marie (Ted) Salgado, Milwaukee; Ruth (Pedro)
San Drego, Gulf Breeze, Fla.; and Esther (Mike) Wiercinski, Pulaski; 23
grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Margaret) Kasten, Gillett;
brother-in-law, Norman Burmeister, Shawano; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanne; three infant children; two
sisters, Esther Burmeister and Ann Kasten; a brother, Harry Kasten and
sister-in-law, Emma Kasten.

Funeral service will be Friday, March 10, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church,
Bonduel, with Pastor Leonard Wildauer officiating. Burial will be in the church

p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. to the time of service.

Peterson, Robert L.

Robert L. Peterson, 68, Mountain, Wis., formerly of Suamico, went to be with His
Lord on Monday, March 6, 2000. His wife, Jeanette and children were by his side.
He was born to Eric and Amanda (Zemke) Peterson, in the town of Mosling, Wis.
(Gillett area) on Oct. 12, 1931. Robert graduated from Gillett High School Class of
1950. He served in the U.S. Air Force 1950-1952 and received an honorable
discharge. He married the former Jeanette Westerfeld on Aug. 4, 1956, in Zachow,
Wis., celebrating 44 years of marriage. Robert retired in 1993 after 30 years
working for Westerfeld Oil. He was a Charter Member of Mt. Olive Lutheran
Church, Suamico, and was active in the Suamico Rec. Dept. and the
Howard-Suamico Business and Professional Association. He enjoyed playing
softball with many different leagues in Suamico and also enjoyed fishing and
hunting in Mountain, Wis.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette, Mountain; children, Dixie (Chris) Mueller, and
children Stacy and Whitney, Neenah; Dawn (Tom) Sawyer and son, Tom Jr.,
Green Bay; Denise (Tim) Collette and children, Erin, Lindsey and Alex, Green
Bay; Dale (Lynn) Peterson, and children Tyler and Brennan, Sobieski; mother,
Amanda Wilke, Bonduel; one sister, Naomi (Adolph) Block, Gillett;
brothers-in-law, Leon (Patricia) Westerfeld, Cecil; Dennis (Kathy) Westerfeld,
Zachow; sister-in-law, Carol (Gordon) Mundt, Arbor Vitae; further survived by

Sager, Ruby

Ruby Sager, 84, Kewaunee, died Monday, March 6, 2000, at the Kewaunee
Health Care Center. She was born April 16, 1915, in the Town of Carlton, to the
late Clement and Josephine (Walecka) Cherveny. She married Howard Sager on
July 25, 1933 in Norman. He later preceded her in death in 1965. She worked at
Hamilton Manufacturing of Two Rivers for many years until retiring. She was a
lifelong member of St. Joseph Church, Norman and the Rosary Society. She was
also a member of St. Theresa Ct. 1057 Women's Catholic Order of Foresters of
Stangelville.

She was survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Allen Christman,
Kewaunee; three grandsons, Keith (Ruth) Christman, Denmark; David (Sandi)
Christman, Kewaunee; Douglas (Friend Shelly) Christman, Tisch Mills; seven
great-grandchildren, Andrea, Katie, Michelle,Vicki, Megan, Jared and Craig
Christman; one brother, Clarence Cherveny, Kewaunee; two sisters and one
brother-in-law, Joyce Pribek, Kewaunee; Mary Ann and Robert Krynek,

Schmidt, Arthur W.

Arthur W. Schmidt, 81, Green Bay, died Tuesday morning, March 7, 2000, at a
local nursing home. Arthur was born Dec. 14, 1918, in Sherwood, Wis. to the late
Arthur and Alvina (Russ) Schmidt. He briefly served in the U.S. Army prior to
marrying the former Armella Reininger on Oct. 31, 1942, at St. Mary's Parish in
Greenleaf. After operating his own business as an auto mechanic for a period of
time, he acquired a position with Hudson-Sharpe Machine Company which later
became FMC Corporation. He was employed at FMC in various roles until his
retirement in 1980, at which time he held the position of shop superintendent.
Arthur was an amateur radio operator for 50 years with his call letters being
W9VGL. He also enjoyed playing the organ and building model trains and cars.
Arthur's greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Arthur is survived by his wife of 57 years, Armella; nine children and their
spouses: Dennis and RoseMarie Schmidt, Green Bay; Judy and Tom Kunesh,
Stangelville; Delores Krouth, Green Bay; Illomay and Dennis Laach, Plymouth;
David Schmidt, Green Bay; Wendy and Richard Janosik, Lake Mills, Wis.; Patty

John Joseph Short was welcomed into Eternal Life by Our Heavenly Father on
Mar. 6, 2000, at a local hospital. He was born May 1, 1918, to Albert and Jenny
Short. On Nov. 29, 1944, he was united in marriage to Frances Kleczewski at
Hofa Park. John loved his wife and family, was devoted to his church and was
passionate about farming. He was a lifetime member of St. Lawrence Catholic
Church, Navarino, serving many years as trustee and usher. He was a 50-year
member of the Catholic Knights. John took great pride in farming his whole life and
was a member of the NFO for many years.

Tyrrell, William J.

William J. Tyrrell, 70, went on ahead on March 7, 2000, in his home in Naples,
Fla. He was born Aug. 5, 1929, in Chicago, Ill. to the late William J. and Catherine
Tyrrell (Broderick). He attended DePaul and Loyola Universities. He started his
career with Walgreens in the 1950's. While living in Chicago he served as
President of Steinway Ford Hopkins. He was made President and CEO of Shopko
in 1972. When he joined the company there were eleven stores with revenues of 8
million. Under his leadership they grew to 100 stores with revenues of 2 billion. He
was awarded Man of the Year by B'nai Brith in 1981. He was honored by Discount
Store Merchandiser for Discounters of the Year in 1989. He served on the Board of
Directors of IMRA; International Mass Retailing Association.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred (Fitzgerald); his sister,
Catherine Mary (Wilson); and baby brother Edwin.

William is survived by his loving wife, Kay A. (Cavanaugh); daughters, Mary Beth
Cahill (James) of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; Patricia Ann DeBonville (John) of Plano, Texas;
Tamara Ann Kratowicz (James) of Green Bay, Wis.; Kari Crowley of Chicago, Ill.;
Kristin Crowley, of Brentwood, Calif.; sons, William J. Tyrrell (Leanne), and Eric
Crowley, all of Green Bay, Wis.; brother, Leonard M. Tyrrell (Patricia) of Crystal

Urban, Gerald D.

Gerald D. Urban, 69, Green Bay, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2000, at
home with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was
born to Roman and Ann (Szumski) Urban on May 26, 1930, in Milwaukee, Wis.
Gerald served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from
1952-1954, and received an honorable discharge. He married the former Nancy
Brown on Nov. 26, 1955 in Milwaukee, Wis. They moved to the Green Bay area in
1974. He worked in Retail Sales for many years and most recently worked at
Dentaloc on Velp Ave. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, traveling and listening
to Jazz music. Gerald was also a professional musician. He loved spending time
with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy, Green Bay; children, Gregory (Connie), Green
Bay; Gary (Marina), Coral Gables, Fla.; Glenn (Christine), Green Bay; Gerald
(Wendy), Sheboygan; Sandra (Vincent) Price, Green Bay; ten grandchildren and
