Beatrice M. Neils
Beatrice N. Neils, 74, of 17925 County Road X, went to her eternal rest on
Monday, March 6, 2000 at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center, where she had
been a patient for the past two weeks.
Beatrice was born March 7, 1925 in the town of Schleswig, the daughter of
the late Edward and Mary (Binversie) Mueller. Beatrice attended Holy
Trinity School.
Beatrice Mueller and Milan Neils were united in marriage on April 27, 1946.
They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 1996. The couple farmed in the town
of Schleswig, retiring in 1982. Beatrice enjoyed gardening, playing cards
and her nightly game of scrabble with her husband.
She was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in School Hill,
where she was also a member of the Christian Women.
She is survived by her husband Milan, her three sons, Glenn (Delores), Randy
(Sandy) and Mark (Sandy), all of Kiel. She is also survived by eight
grandchildren, Craig (fiancee, Tola) and Christopher, Stephanie and Ryan and
Joseph (special friend, Nicole), Jon, Eric and Erin. She is also survived by
one sister, Rita Thiel, Sheboygan; four sisters-in-laws, Ruth (Henry) Arpke,
Elkhart Lake, Arleen Gahagan, Valerie (Mutzie) Neils, Gladys (Milton)
Mueller, all of Kiel, Lois (Dale) Brault of El Dorado; and three
brothers-in-law, William (Theresa) Neils, Elwood (Joyce) Neils, both of
Elkhart Lake, and Jerome Neils of Kiel. She was preceded in death by two
infant children, Mary and Gregory; her sister, Judith and her
brothers-in-law, Frederick Thiel, Hugh Gahagan and Warren Neils.
Funeral Mass will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2000 at Holy Trinity
Catholic Church, School Hill with the Rev. Gerald Sirois, pastor, and Deacon
James Steffen officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday at the CHURCH, from
3 p.m. until the time of service.
A memorial has been established in her name.

Rosalie S. Valleskey
Rosalie S. Valleskey, 87, of Kiel, died Monday, March 6, 2000 at her home.
Rosalie is the former Rosalie Bleck born April 15, 1912 in Valders, daughter
of the late Edward and Augusta Peters Bleck. She was a 1930 graduate of
Valders High School.
On June 16, 1932, she married Adonis Valleskey in Valders. He preceded her
in death on Feb. 28, 1955.
Prior to retirement, Rosalie worked for many years at Lake-to-Lake, Kiel.
She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Louis Corners, the
Ladies Aid and was a former member of the Manitowoc County Homemakers.
Rosalie loved to cook and was especially fond of gardening, where she took
extra special care of her roses.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Ruth Valleskey, New Holstein; one
son, David (Barbara) Valleskey, New Holstein; one daughter, Valonn (Joseph)
Lettenberger, Green Lake; 10 grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren and one
nephew. She was preceded in death by her son, Valgene Valleskey, two
brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2000 at Zion
Evangelical Lutheran Church, Louis Corners, with the Rev. Ted Olsen,
officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the CHURCH, on Thursday, from 10:30 a.m. until the time
of services.

Lutheran Church or PKU organization of Wisconsin.

Tom and Jane Montour
Deborah Jane Montour, age 46, and Thomas A. Montour, age
48, of W6909 Lake Drive, Shawano, died Monday, March 6,
2000, from injuries received in a traffic accident.
Jane was born July 22, 1953, in Milwaukee, the daughter of
Betty (Thiede-Ferry) Olson, and the late Charles D. Ferry.
Tom was born Sept. 10, 1951, in Shawano to Marjorie
(Gehrke) Montour and the late Lester R. Montour.
They were married July 14, 1973, in Milwaukee. They were
members of the Shawano United Methodist Church. They both
enjoyed riding motorcycles and were members of the Wolf River
Hog Chapter, Shawano.
Jane owned and operated Country School Charm, Shawano.
She was a member of Shawano Eiderdowns and enjoyed doing
craft work, driving her car, and decorating her home and business
for the holidays.
Tom owned and operated Montour Incorporated of Shawano
and Clintonville, and From the Hearth by Montours, Clintonville,
and was a former partner of the Landmark Hotel, Clintonville. He
was a member of Shawano Rotary Club and A.S.H.R.E.A. He
was always busy with a remodeling project.
They are survived by: three sons, Chad (fiancee, Beth
Erickson), Chris (special friend, Amanda Valenta), and James, all
of Shawano.
Jane is further survived by: her mother and stepfather, Betty
and Arthur Olson, Milwaukee; sister, Karen (Paul) Shackelford,
Ft. Meyers, Fla.; brother, James (Carol) Ferry, Milwaukee.
Tom is further survived by: his mother, Marjorie Montour,
Shawano; two sisters, Nancy Montour, Kansas City, Kan., and
Marshia (Jan) Berg, Appleton. They both are survived by nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends
Tom was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 11, at 11 a.m. at
Peace United Church of Christ, Shawano, with the Rev. Raymond
Coombs and the Rev. Jacob Pruess officiating. Burial will be in
Lake Drive Cemetery , Town of Wescott. Friends may call at
Swedberg Funeral Home, Shawano, on Friday, March 10, from 4
until 8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Saturday, at the church until the time

Bernard “BJ” Brady, age 85, Caroline, passed away Monday,
March 6, 2000, at Appleton Medical Center in Appleton. The
Rhodes & Beil Funeral Home in Tigerton is assisting the family.
Bernard Joseph Brady was born July 9, 1914, at Tigerton, the
son of the late Edward H. and Etta Brady. He was a graduate of
Tigerton High School and was united in marriage to Helen Berg at
Tigerton. On Jan. 5, 1952, Bernard was united in marriage to Ruth
Mae Gruenstern at Tigerton. She passed away in September of
1983. On May 12, 1984, Bernard was united in marriage to
Marcella Hubert Peterman at Marion. BJ was a lifetime resident of
the area, living in the Town of Wyoming, rural Tigerton and in
Caroline since 1984. During the 1940’s, BJ was a director of the
Tigerton bank and lived his life as a master carpenter in the area,
building houses and anything of wood. He was a member of St.
Mary’s Catholic Church in Marion and St. Anthony’s Catholic
Church in Tigerton. BJ loved horses, harness racing, a good chew
and building things for his family.
Survivors include: his wife, Marcella; one son, William (Mary)
Brady of Tigerton; three stepchildren, Sharon (Carl) Briske of
Pella, Judy (Don) Blaese of Appleton, Jeannie (Harold) Schmidt
of Marion; four grandchildren, William J. (Sandy) Brady of
Tigerton, Brenda A. (Scott) Wedemayer of Tigerton, Burton E.
(Juli) Brady of Tigerton, Bruce A. (special friend, Michelle) Brady
of Tigerton; seven great-grandchildren, Melanie, Brandon, Jeremy,

John Joseph Short was welcomed into Eternal Life by Our
Heavenly Father on March 6, 2000, at a local hospital.
He was born May 1, 1918, to Albert and Jenny Short. On
Nov. 29, 1944, he was united in marriage to Frances Kleczewski
at Hofa Park. John loved his wife and family, was devoted to his
church, and was passionate about farming. He was a lifetime
member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Navarino, serving
many years as trustee and usher. He was a 50 year member of the
Catholic Knights. John took great pride in farming his whole life
and was a member of the National Farmers Organization for many
years.

Theodore C. Amenson,
77, joined his wife, Agnes, in Heaven on what would have
been her 75th birthday, Tuesday, March 7, 2000. He was born April 8, 1922, in
Green Bay to the late Chester and Jenny (Taylor) Amenson. He was a U.S. Army
veteran of World War II, stationed in Europe. On Sept. 24, 1942, he married the
former Agnes Boehm at Holy Martyrs of Gorcum Catholic Church; she preceded
him in death April 28, 1994. Ted was employed by Crosby's Heavy Duty Wrecker
Service for many years, and later restored cars from his home. He was an avid
Packers fan and enjoyed reading, fishing and particularly restoring cars
(especially Mustangs).
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Karen
Amenson, Little
Suamico; and John and Carol Amenson, Abrams; five daughters and sons-in-law,

Brian Baillie, 57, passed
away March 1, 2000, at University of Wisconsin Hospital
in Madison. He was born Nov. 26, 1942, the son of George and Helen Baillie.
Brian was a graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.
He
excelled at football, basketball and particularly baseball. He was active
throughout
his life as a player, coach and fan. He served in the United States Army 1967 to
1968. Brian was active with Big Brothers and Mentored troubled youths. He was
also an avid reader, music fan, art lover, gardener and motorcycle enthusiast.
For
many years Brian was employed at Fort Howard Corp. as Director of Advertising
and Marketing Services from 1987 until 1993. Most recently, he was employed at
S & S Cycle in Viola.
He is survived by his wife, Susan; children, Kathryn
Nicholson, John Nicholson,
Kristin (David) Schrader; grandson, Levi Schrader; mother, Helen Baillie;
sister,
Bonnie (Richard) Konsinowski; brother, Geoffrey (Lynn) Baillie; special nieces,

Mrs. Mary
"Peg" Gooding, 83, Green Bay, died peacefully Monday, March 6,
2000, at a local nursing home on her late husband Robert's birthday. She was
born on May 25, 1916, in Green Bay to the late Max and Margaret (Decker)
Schmidt. On July 11, 1936, Peg married Robert Gooding. He preceded her in
death on Oct. 6, 1991. She was a long time member at Grace Lutheran Church
and a member of the Priscilla Circle. She was a devoted mother to her children,
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all of her cats. She also loved
gardening,
outdoors, and traveling.

Kasten, Arthur A.
Arthur A. Kasten, 92,
Bonduel, died Monday, March 6, 2000, at Deerview
Meadows Assisted Living Facility, Shawano. He was born March 28, 1907, to the
late Johann Fredric and Mathilda (Bahrke) Kasten in the Town of Angelica. Arthur
married Esther Moede March 28, 1930, in Waukegan, Ill. The couple lived in Long
Lake where Arthur worked as a logger until they moved to a farm north of Bowler
in 1936. Arthur was an active member of the community and was involved as a
leader of the Ever Ready 4-H Club, served on the Bowler School Board and the
Farm Bureau and Equity Organizations and the Bowler Advancement Association.
The Kastens retired from farming in 1968 and moved to Bonduel where Arthur
worked for Equity Livestock and Froelich Upholstery. He was a member of St.
Paul Lutheran Church, Bonduel and served on the Men's Club, Usher and
Cemetery Committees. He resided at Deerview Meadows since 1998.
Survivors include his wife, Esther; and children, Betty Ann
(John) Bowers,
Sturgeon Bay; Fred (Jane) Kasten, Omro; Judy (Charles) Aldrian, Birchwood;
Roger (Pearl) Kasten, Shawano; Marie (Ted) Salgado, Milwaukee; Ruth (Pedro)

Peterson, Robert L.
Robert L. Peterson,
68, Mountain, Wis., formerly of Suamico, went to be with His
Lord on Monday, March 6, 2000. His wife, Jeanette and children were by his side.
He was born to Eric and Amanda (Zemke) Peterson, in the town of Mosling, Wis.
(Gillett area) on Oct. 12, 1931. Robert graduated from Gillett High School Class
of
1950. He served in the U.S. Air Force 1950-1952 and received an honorable
discharge. He married the former Jeanette Westerfeld on Aug. 4, 1956, in Zachow,
Wis., celebrating 44 years of marriage. Robert retired in 1993 after 30 years
working for Westerfeld Oil. He was a Charter Member of Mt. Olive Lutheran
Church, Suamico, and was active in the Suamico Rec. Dept. and the
Howard-Suamico Business and Professional Association. He enjoyed playing
softball with many different leagues in Suamico and also enjoyed fishing and
hunting in Mountain, Wis.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette, Mountain; children,
Dixie (Chris) Mueller, and
children Stacy and Whitney, Neenah; Dawn (Tom) Sawyer and son, Tom Jr.,
Green Bay; Denise (Tim) Collette and children, Erin, Lindsey and Alex, Green

Ruby Sager, 84, Kewaunee, died
Monday, March 6, 2000, at the Kewaunee
Health Care Center. She was born April 16, 1915, in the Town of Carlton, to the
late Clement and Josephine (Walecka) Cherveny. She married Howard Sager on
July 25, 1933 in Norman. He later preceded her in death in 1965. She worked at
Hamilton Manufacturing of Two Rivers for many years until retiring. She was a
lifelong member of St. Joseph Church, Norman and the Rosary Society. She was
also a member of St. Theresa Ct. 1057 Women's Catholic Order of Foresters of
Stangelville.
She was survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and
Allen Christman,
Kewaunee; three grandsons, Keith (Ruth) Christman, Denmark; David (Sandi)

Schmidt, Arthur W.
Arthur W. Schmidt, 81,
Green Bay, died Tuesday morning, March 7, 2000, at a
local nursing home. Arthur was born Dec. 14, 1918, in Sherwood, Wis. to the late
Arthur and Alvina (Russ) Schmidt. He briefly served in the U.S. Army prior to
marrying the former Armella Reininger on Oct. 31, 1942, at St. Mary's Parish in
Greenleaf. After operating his own business as an auto mechanic for a period of
time, he acquired a position with Hudson-Sharpe Machine Company which later
became FMC Corporation. He was employed at FMC in various roles until his
retirement in 1980, at which time he held the position of shop superintendent.
Arthur was an amateur radio operator for 50 years with his call letters being
W9VGL. He also enjoyed playing the organ and building model trains and cars.
Arthur's greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Arthur is survived by his wife of 57 years, Armella; nine
children and their
spouses: Dennis and RoseMarie Schmidt, Green Bay; Judy and Tom Kunesh,

Short, John Joseph
John Joseph Short was
welcomed into Eternal Life by Our Heavenly Father on
Mar. 6, 2000, at a local hospital. He was born May 1, 1918, to Albert and Jenny
Short. On Nov. 29, 1944, he was united in marriage to Frances Kleczewski at
Hofa Park. John loved his wife and family, was devoted to his church and was
passionate about farming. He was a lifetime member of St. Lawrence Catholic
Church, Navarino, serving many years as trustee and usher. He was a 50-year
member of the Catholic Knights. John took great pride in farming his whole life
and
was a member of the NFO for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Frances; sons, Ken (Marge) Short,
Gillett; Don (Carol)
Short, De Pere; Steve (Carol) Short, Navarino; Norbert (Mary) Short, Pulaski;
Randy (Jean) Short, Bonduel; Jerome Short, Chantilly, Va.; daughters, Shirley
(Keith) Johnson, Pulaski; Betty (Gene) Arendt, Green Bay; Marie (Steve) Fischer,
Cecil; Nancy (Dan) Nolan, Bonduel; 28 grandchildren; a great-grandchild;
brothers,
Frank (Theresa) Short, Appleton; Mike (Mona) Short, Mills Center; sisters, Anne
Jarchow, Fullerton, Calif.; Rose (Bob) Foley, Bakersfield, Calif.; Kate Short,

Frances' family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Jenny

Tyrrell, William J.
William J. Tyrrell,
70, went on ahead on March 7, 2000, in his home in Naples,
Fla. He was born Aug. 5, 1929, in Chicago, Ill. to the late William J. and
Catherine
Tyrrell (Broderick). He attended DePaul and Loyola Universities. He started his
career with Walgreens in the 1950's. While living in Chicago he served as
President of Steinway Ford Hopkins. He was made President and CEO of Shopko
in 1972. When he joined the company there were eleven stores with revenues of 8
million. Under his leadership they grew to 100 stores with revenues of 2
billion. He
was awarded Man of the Year by B'nai Brith in 1981. He was honored by Discount
Store Merchandiser for Discounters of the Year in 1989. He served on the Board
of
Directors of IMRA; International Mass Retailing Association.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred
(Fitzgerald); his sister,
Catherine Mary (Wilson); and baby brother Edwin.
William is survived by his loving wife, Kay A. (Cavanaugh);
daughters, Mary Beth
Cahill (James) of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; Patricia Ann DeBonville (John) of Plano,
Texas;
Tamara Ann Kratowicz (James) of Green Bay, Wis.; Kari Crowley of Chicago, Ill.;
Kristin Crowley, of Brentwood, Calif.; sons, William J. Tyrrell (Leanne), and
Eric
Crowley, all of Green Bay, Wis.; brother, Leonard M. Tyrrell (Patricia) of
Crystal
Lake, Ill.; 16 grandchildren, James, Caroline, Julia, and Lauren Cahill;
Jacquelyn
and Michael DeBonville; McKayla, Laurel, and Victoria Kratowicz; Erin, William,

Bill was loved as a man's man, as a friend, as a businessman,
a family man...
and as an Irishman. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.

Urban, Gerald D.
Gerald D. Urban, 69,
Green Bay, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2000, at
home with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was
born to Roman and Ann (Szumski) Urban on May 26, 1930, in Milwaukee, Wis.
Gerald served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from
1952-1954, and received an honorable discharge. He married the former Nancy
Brown on Nov. 26, 1955 in Milwaukee, Wis. They moved to the Green Bay area in
1974. He worked in Retail Sales for many years and most recently worked at
Dentaloc on Velp Ave. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, traveling and
listening
to Jazz music. Gerald was also a professional musician. He loved spending time
with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, Green Bay; children,
Gregory (Connie), Green
Bay; Gary (Marina), Coral Gables, Fla.; Glenn (Christine), Green Bay; Gerald
(Wendy), Sheboygan; Sandra (Vincent) Price, Green Bay; ten grandchildren and
one on the way; one brother, Robert (Helen) Urban, Milwaukee; one sister, Joyce
(Kenneth) Thomas, Las Cruces, N.M.; brothers-in-law, Elmer (Phyllis) Brown,
Anderson Island, Wash.; Thomas Brown, Jackson, Wis.; sister-in-law, Doris
(John) Lepore, Homestead, Fla.; father-in-law, Elmer Brown, Cedar Lake, Wis.;
further survived by nieces, nephews and special friends.
