Miscellaneous Books In the Schuyler Co. Court House
There were records that needed to be recorded in the County. Evidently the extent to which the growth and population of the county was not anticipated that early. Every type of record was placed in these four books.
Later the records were classified in types and classes. ( deeds, marriages, law suits, adoptions, deaths, wills, etc. )
But the early miscellaneous records in these 4 books are varied in types. Much information can be gleamed from these records. In some cases the exact record is not known just by looking at the entry in the index. It has been abbreviated and the intent of the abbreviation is not known until the record is checked.
It was impossible to check all these records listed below but from what I have checked the information is described below.
All these records have been filmed with a digital camera and brought home and recorded as been able to view. Than the typed version was taken back to the courthouse and checked to see if the information was correct as to what the books revealed. In some cases the hand written names and numbers have been hard to read in the books. The best possible and closest entry has been made on my part. (This is a very time consuming project)
Tip When submitting a search, take into consideration using a WORD instead of a name. Such as “discharge.” Many names were entered into the books for recording of the discharge of soldiers from the wars, under DISCHARGE Instead of the name. (ie; Discharge from USA Washington Crout . They may be locatable under the word “discharge”.)
Other instances of recording exist also. So use the word that may help you locate the person you seek; Due to the spelling that was used in recording the names, some may not be locatable under the correct spelling or the one that you surmise.
