Marcus Crantz

Justice of the Peace Philip Franz swore and certify the claimant Catherine Crantz is in possession with a certificate of pension from the Dept. of the Interior Widow Pension. the act of Feb. 3, 1853 Catherine Crantz widow of Markus Crantz was a private in the Rev. War and is on the pension list of the rate of Eighty dollars per annum Mark H Crouts and the tester both reside in Germanflatts in the county of Herkimer. Dorothy Hess resides in Camillus in Onondaga county and is aged 60 years. and he said Michael Crout is residing in Milwaukee in the state of Wisc. and is aged 50 years and over.

State of NY Herkimer County the son of Rev. John b Spimer deceased a clergyman who resided in Herkimer, Herkimer co. NY that he was well acquainted with the hand of his deceased father that has in his possession and keeping a book containing a record of marriage by his father. Said records of Marcus Cratz and Catherine House in his father handwriting.

15th may 1828 Mark Crantz Town of Columbia Herkimer co. NY put in claim as serving in the army of Cont line of the Rev. War. He put his mark. Mark Crantz written over it.

In Oct. 1, 1835 Mark swore he had living in Columbia for more than 30 yrs and before that lived in town of Herkimer.

Marks Grantz it was spelled when Catherine applied 4 Aug. 1853 stated that Mark died 17th May 1841, was married to Mark 1805.

17th day of March 1855 Catherine Crants aged 81 yrs. resides of Herkimer Co. NY says she is the survivor of Marcus Crants deceased. She has never married since his death. She makes this declaration for the purpose of the bounty Land granted by the US government March 3, 1841?, She believes she is not entitled to the bounty land so appoints James S. Davenport of Richfield springs NY to purchase her claim and receive her warrant when issued. Catherine Crants put her mark.

A letter requesting was sent to Mr. Roger F. Williams 2 Rock St. Alexandria Bay NY 1933

stating the info given above. Mark Crantz/Crants was discharged June 18, 1783. It stated he died May 17, 1841 in Columbia NY. He was married in Herkimer also called German Flats NY. Catherine House. It also stated that she was granted 60 acres bounty

It also mentioned her son that left for California sometime after the death of Mark Crantz. but did not state the name of this man or any other children. In 1853 she was residing at the house of John C House. he was aged 38 yrs then.
