Recorded the 15th of July 1804
In the name of God Amen, I Daniel Cruger Lent of Bath
in the county of Steuben. [The following wording of a will, sound mind,
pay debts, ect.]
Gives Wife Hannah belongings. Mentions youngest daughter
Hannah Crugar to receive the remainder after his wife's death. In case
of death of daughter Hannah, his sons Daniel and John Crugar shall that
the right. Then mentions that upon or should the daughter die, all goes
to the brothers of wife and his sons, John and Daniel Cruger.
Mentions bequeaths to daughter -------Metcalf and
to Henry Cruger, son.
Witness were Reuben Saml?

Codicil to the will.
Bequeaths to son Jacob, Histen? And Samuel one dollar
each to by paid to them by his wife. In consequences of the unfortunate
conduct of my former wife Elizabeth Shuler Alias Wheaton. She can have
no claim on my legal heirs of her the said Elizabeth or her heirs. I also
bequeath unto Minerva Hammond and Fanny Hammond one Dollar each.
Witnessed by Robert Campbell, Valentine Bear, Dugato
Cammeron? John Faulkner of Painted Post. Benjamin Patterson motioned as
wittiness and subscribing. Dated July 14,1804.

Will dated Oct. 29, 1804, John Faulkner formerly of
Painted Post, Steuben Co. Orders to have a Christian burial. His son John
Faulkner Jr. Of the town of Bath and James Faulkner Esq. of the town of
Painted Post as Executor. Mentions his wife Ann Faulkner receiving the
west half of the dwelling house to have entrance to the cellar, with the
furniture and the Negro boy and two wenches also. She is to receive $750.00
yearly. My son John Faulkner $250. Paid to him as son as possible. My son
Peter Faulkner $250.00 My son Samuel 250.00. MY daughter Margaret Doer/Dove
$125.00 to be paid six years after my decease. Daughter of Mary Lill $125.00
three years after death. Granddaughter Martha Carr $125.00 one year after
death. Grandson John Faulkner son of Daniel Faulkner deceased, $25.00 to
be paid when he comes of age. Or one year after my death. To son James
Faulkner all the residence of my real and personal property that I now
possess. The legacies the Wench Ann to be left to my daughter Mary Sill/Lill
after my wife death. James to pay to grandson John Faulkner, son of my
son John one half of the value of said Negro which I said Negro is to be
manumitted? At 35 years of age if said Negro chuses[sic] and the pieced
of the said Negro is to be estimated by two or three different people after
the decease of my wife. Published by John Faulkner.
