Ann remained, sought divorce from Carpenter & was finalized in Sept 1871. JHH and Carpenter moved from Reddington, Indiana to Sumner, or another place in TN, 1 week after Civil War ended. Carpenter bought land, had a farm, lived there for a couple of years, then moved on to Dekalb County, TN. Both JHH and Carpenter served together in the Civil War for the last 15 months. JHH was mustered in to Carpenters unit in April 1864. Their unit moved to Chatanooga, TN for the last 6 months of the Civil War, Jan 1865 to July 1865. At the end of the war, Carpenter and JHH returned to their home in Reddington, Ind, stayed for a week, and moved on to an area outside of Chatanooga where Carpenter bought a farm. JHH returned to Ind with his mother shortly thereafter. JHH later moved to Keysburg, Logan County, KY by 1878. Barb (my Sprouse cousin) found Carpenters son Johnson

2 Companies: MARRIAGE: World Connect is the first That I've noticed showing his name as Daniel Carpenter HARDING. I found Caroline's tombstone listed online, on her head stone it lists her father as being Daniel Carpenter HARDING and mother is Ann [VORHEES] HARDING, however this was not from her, she was dead! Therefore 2nd hand information likely to be incorrect, and whomever supplied it was grieving at the time, therefore, more likely to make a mistake. Sumations Fact 1: On John Henry Hardings death cert it states C.P. Harding as Father (source was his oldest son Hal S. Harding), Anna Vorhees as Mother. Same family, right ages, brothers and sisters all match throughout census reports so I know these facts are correct. CP Harding is his name however in some documents "Daniel" is what he is referred as. Fact 2: In the "Hardings In America" book written by Wilbur Harding he does not refer to Carpenter Harding son of Stephen, wife is Ann Vorhees as being a "Daniel C. Harding" nor does his Military Pension when his 2nd wife, Narsissa (Narcissa) Harding applied for pension for a child with the last name of "Boyle" under Carpenter Hardings name. Mattie Harding had married a Mr Boyle and the Narcissa family was still pursuing the pension claim. Carpenter in each turn is still NOT called Daniel! In short, NO Written Proof that I can find or that others can supply is backing up the statement that his name is Daniel Carpenter Harding, it is simply Carpenter P Harding. It that has confused or slowed down my search a bit, but I"m not one that is easily thrown. ;) Fact 3: On Caroline Harding Davis tombstone has
