AMOS A. WILLIAMS
Amos A.
Williams married Eleanor Stewart, and settled here about 1827-28.
He suffered the loss of one foot from being run over by the cars ; it
was amputated, but he lived only a few weeks after the surgical
operation was performed, and died October 23, 1855. His wife died
January 14, 1860. Their children were as follows : Elisha, died
in childhood ; Mary, also died young; Erastus, died in infancy, July
29, 1833, and was the first body buried in Buck Run Cemetery ; Hannah,
died at fifteen years of age; James, married Americus Stewart; Melinda,
died in infancy; William, died in the army in the war of the rebellion;
and Stephen, the youngest.
