E. C. SMITH, Jr.
E. C. Smith, Jr., a farmer, P. O. Plain City, is a son of Eleazer C. and Irene, (Doty) Smith, who came West in 1832, and purchased 167 acres of land on which he died in 1866; his wife departed this life in 1848. Twelve children were born to them, seven of whom are living. The subject of this sketch was born in East Monipelier, Vt., in 1826. he was married February 12, 1850, to Catherine A. Stephens, who has borne him four children, two of whom are living Charles C. and John E. D. Mr. S. owns 220 acres of valuable land; he has held the office of Township Trustee twelve years, and takes an active interest in public affairs; he is a member of the Methodist Church, and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
