C. Hoskins, a farmer near Magnetic Springs, was born in Leesburg
Township January 18, 1832. He is a son of Richard and Ann H. (Martin)
Hoskins, the former a native of Franklin County, Ohio, of Welsh
descent, and the latter a native of Virginia. The father came to this
country when three years of age with his parents, and in 1855 settled
on the land now owned by our subject, where he and his wife died. Our
subject was raised on the farm and has resided on a farm for
twenty-seven years, now owning nearly 148 acres. He was for a time
engaged in growing grapes with J. E. Newhouse, to whom he sold his
interest in 1866. On October 8, 1868, he married Telitha H.,
daughter of Moses and Ellen (Prichard) Welsh, a native of Ohio, born in
1842. By her he had one child, who died in infancy. Mrs. Hoskins died
January 8, 1870, and on July 20, 1871, Mr. Hoskins married Rebecca
Harrod, daughter of John and Telitha (Prichard) Harrod. By this union
three children were born, viz.: John R., born October 1, 1872 ;
Telitha, Ollie, born September 9, 1874, and Don P., born August 25,
1878. Mr. Hoskins is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
