J. L. JOLLIFF
J.
L. Jolliff, a merchant in Magnetic Springs, son of Eli Jolliff,
deceased. and Margaret (Wells) Jolliff, was born in Union County, Ohio,
January 20, 1857, and on April 11, 1880, married Emma Hoskins, a
daughter of J. M. and Elizabeth (Fleming) Hoskins, and a, native of
Leesburg Township. By this union one child was born, namely: Clyde H.,
born April 5, 1881. Our subject's mother married for it second husband
William Holt, with whom she and family moved to Missouri in 1874. While
there, J. L. taught school for five years in Grundy County. he also
read law for eighteen months. On January 23, 1882, he engaged in
mercantile business., in which he still continues under the firm name
of Hill & Jolliff. He Is a member of Mt. Carmel Lodge, No. 303, F.
& A. M., Richwood Lodge, No. 448, I. O. O. F.; a Republican in
politics and a member of the Christian Church. Mrs. Jolliff is also a
member of the Christian Church and of Leesburg Lodge of Daughters of
Rebekah.
