Commodore Anson Blackstone

 

COMMODORE ANSON BLACKSTONE
1817 - 1905

 

 

Commodore Anson Blackstone was born on May 10, 1817 to Reverend John M. Blackstone and Catherine Harvey.  It is assumed that Commodore's birthplace is in Crawford County, Georgia since John and Catherine lived and were buried there in Mt. Paran Cemetery.  However, very little is known about Commodore's life.  We do know that he married Nancy A. Candler on June 20, 1839, in Chambers County, Alabama.  Nancy was born on December 4, 1819, to William Candler and Nancy Lacy.

 

He and Nancy had the following children:

Cassandra Catherine Blackstone, b. March 23, 1840.

 

John Harvey Blackstone, b. May 31, 1842; d. July 11, 1898.

 

William Henry Blackstone, b. March 10, 1844; d. December 26, 1934.

 

 

James Hugo Blackstone (b. March 7, 1846; d. March 16, 1921) married Mary Williamson Stringer on November 28, 1866.  After Mary's death in 1881, he married Millie Rouse on  December 17, 1882.  In 1901 he married his third wife, Matilda Whitaker.

 

Sarah Icy Blackstone, b. December 21, 1848; d. March 9, 1925.

Louiza Martha Blackstone, b. March 2, 1851; d. before 1898.

 

Stephen Thomas Hughes Blackstone, b. July 4, 1853; d. December 30, 1936.

 

Martin Zephaniah Pratt Blackstone, b. December 29, 1855; d. October 1, 1919.

Anson Hale Blackstone, b. January 1, 1859; d. March 18, 1934.

 

 

Samuel Yarbrough Lacy Blackstone, b. April 18, 1961; d. May 11, 1944.
