Contact.   Transcribed by Jack STEER Checked by Val HENDERSON Pages 504 - 505   DITTISHAM is a village and parish in Totnes union, containing, by the census of 1861, 762 inhabitants, and 3438 acres; in the deanery and archdeaconry of Totnes, diocese of Exeter, hundred of Coleridge, South Devonshire; 3 miles north-west from Dartmouth, 3½ north-west from Kingswear station, and 7 miles south-east from Totnes. The rectory, in the incumbency of the Hon. and Rev. Graham COLBOURNE M.A., had the tithes commuted, in 1841, at £475 per annum, with residence and 87 acres of glebe land, and is in the patronage of the Earl of Mount-Edgcumbe. The church is an ancient edifice, in the Perpendicular style, dedicated to St. George, consisting of nave, chancel, north and south aisle, and tower with six bells, and was consecrated in 1333. The Independents have a place of worship here, and there is a National School for children of both sexes. The Hon. and Rev. Graham COLBOURNE M.A. is lord of the manor, and he and Henry STUDDY and G.
