Vieregge_Veregge Frisco Railway Genealogy and Fantastic Caverns history

of
a peanut butter jelly sandwich
and
a gallon of gas
...or how we got this far...?

A sister-in-law said it 40 years ago: "You two can travel further on a peanut butter jelly sandwich and a gallon of gas than anyone I know." It was Christmas 1964. With very little money and a tank full of determination I managed a Holiday in New Mexico for my wife and two children ages 10 and 14 in an Indian Pueblo that would be a memory for life. (You can read about this and CHIEF EVERGREEN TREE at the bottom of this page)

These web pages are still under construction. There are lots of pictures and stories, but still a lot that I want to add. So if you thank you have seen it all, come back later and I should have added more.

Here is the story of THE FIRST JEEP TOUR OF FANTASTIC CAVERNS.

Here is a unique flagpole that was on the parking lot of FANTASTIC CAVERNS. CLICK HERE

More cave pictures when FANTASTIC CAVERNS was home to a Country Music show, FARMERAMA, broadcast on radio in the 1960s. It launched the careers of future players and shakers of the BRANSON, MO theaters. CLICK HERE to start the picture and story tour.

FORTH
CHIEF EVERGREEN TREE

Here are memories of CHIEF EVERGREEN TREE. These are our memories and memories sent to me by others who knew this generous man. He was a most interesting Pueblo Indian from New Mexico who entertained at the WISCONSIN DELLS by making sounds of the birds and wild life that he grew up with. He was unique and you will want to meet him too. He is gone, but not forgotten.

FIFTH
MISCELLANEOUS

First dog in state of MO trained for police work and received the states first Lassie Gold Medal Award. Buried 1964 on the grounds of Fantastic Caverns. Read about Chico the dog.

GROWING A HOME is where you will find these wild turkeys wintering below our deck. This old house was moved from the city to the country. I call this story GROWING A HOME, or how I almost destroyed a house with a chain saw.

This takes place by FANTASTIC CAVERNS in the Missouri Ozarks. If you have MOVED A HOUSE, or ever thought of MOVING A HOUSE, then you will enjoy this story.

There will be more to this story later, as the house was struck by lightning Aug 2002 and almost destroyed.

CLICK HEREand come back later for the rest of the story.
