DETAILS AND NOTES

148/1 Young female workers in a mill. Twenty girls line up in two rows of eight and four sat on the floor and represent different age groups, they are surrounded by the machinery of a [cloth] mill showing bobbins etc. [quite a piece of social history] No date and no location given but I assume early 20th century.

148/2 The inside of a men's hospital ward with men and boys, the beds are tightly packed in, there are four nurses. in bed 20 is a boy under the care of Mr.E.A. Bellanger [or Ballanger]. There is a turntable with a record on it behind the middle nurse, tin mugs and a handgrip on a chain on the right.. The back has 'Mrs E.C.Jephcott'. I assume early 20th century. [the photo has silvered and has been improved using photoshop]

148/3 Twenty-six nurses line up with a prize cup, the arm badges look like St.John's, one nurse has a wrist watch that says 9.50am. No clue as to where or when but I assume in the UK and perhaps WW1 or earlier.

148/5 Visitors crowd around a bed-ridden lady, a man seems to be wearing a soldiers uniform so this is probably WW1.

Signed With Mr. & Mrs. Müller's Christian love. [I understand this is a very rare book and a portrait not available anywhere at this quality - this also appears to be a rare Woodburytype photograph
