Charles W. CLEAVER, 1853-1931

Charles was born 29 June 1853 in New York City, according to the Andreas "History of Kansas", 1888, page 852. His parents were also from New York. In 1860, his family lived in Shelby County, MO. After the Civil War, he moved to Hannibal and later to Minnesota. In 1872, he moved to Topeka for eight months. Between 1873-4, he lived in Newton, KS. In 1875 Charles was a railroad operator and Western Union telegraph manager in Emporia. Still in Emporia, Charles and Emma BAILY married two years later at the local Methodist Episcopal Church.

Both Charles and Emma were buried at the Maplewood Cemetery, Emporia, KS near Emma's sister, Clara, and their father, Alexander BAILY
