1917 April 6 - The United States of America declared war on Germany.
Carl ERTEL originally was a German Methodist minister, beginning in 1911. F. A. Norwood stated that by 1840, Germans numbered one-fourth of the population of Cincinnati, and were instrumental in introducing Methodism into Germany. 1945 Jan 15 - Dorothy ERTEL and Donald STEINBACH were married by a Presbyterian minister chaplain in New York.

1952 July 2 - Dorothy's dad Carl aged 67, died of cancer of the stomach on July 2, 1952 at the Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati, and was buried at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery in Dayton, OH.

1968 - Lillie Ertel, aged 75, died in Piqua OH on May 24, 1968 before her November 22th birthday. She, Carl, her in-laws Ernest and Wilhelmina, plus several Carl's sibligs were buried at Dayton Memorial Park.
1980 - Uncle Eddie Ertel died (Dec 26) in Ohio, aged 83
1986 - Aunt Francie Ertel died (Mar 12) in Ohio, aged 80
