MARY WALKER RECTOR

"Rectors came from Chimney Top" Hawkins Co., TN This was a quote from Mary Henderson as told to Janelle Walker Warden on a visit to her home about 1981. So did the Rectors stop off in North Carolina before making the move to Hawkins County and down to Greeneville, Tennessee?

There was a Benjamin Rector served in the North Carolina Roster of American Revolutionary War Soldiers. This may be Benjamin Senior father of our Benjamin Rector, born born 1787 Botetourt Co., Virginia and died 1848 in Georgia and married abt 1808 to Mary Walker born June 1788 in Wytheville, Virginia. Recorded in the 1809 Washington Co. TN deed bk: William Crawford to Benjamin Rector waters of Lick Creek, $500.00 for 184 acres. (Lick Creek near Blackley Creek and Jearoldstown) Benjamin Rector is on the Tennessee Tax List for 1814 and 1819 in Washington County. Benjamin's land was on the border of Washington Co. and Greene Co., Tennessee
