They moved from Marblehead to Cornwallis and quitepossibly encountered Elijah and Mary Estabrooks there. Sarah had fourchildren by James Oakes: James (junior), Benjamin, Sarah and Christopher(Christopher was born in 1773). James (senior) died about the same timeas Mary Hackett. Sarah Oakes brought her small family to Gagetown andmarried Elijah Estabrooks on 17 December 1778. They had a further twochildren, Elizabeth (Betsy) born 30 October 1779, and Hammond, born 29January 1783.
