Shed. ca. 1658, according to the Abridged Compendium of American Genealogy.Eugene Cole Zubrinsky, in his article, 'The Family of William Carpenterof Rehoboth, Massachusetts,' disputes the contention in The CarpenterMemorial that Abigail Carpenter was not John Titus's first wife when hestates that 'Amos Carpenter's misreading original records andmisrepresenting important evidence contribute to two other major errorsconcerning certain of William's children. One is that Abigail Carpenterwas not the first wife of John Titus but married him in 1659, making herthe mother of only the last four of his eight children. Carpenter statesthat 'on the Rehoboth Town Records the family is recorded as the childrenof John Titus by wife Rachel.' but examination of the record indicatesthat all eight children of John Titus were 'borne off his wife Abigail.''m. 2nd Abigail Carpenter, daughter of William and Abigail (Briant), in1659 (1649 according to Zubrinsky).
