Death*: 16 May 1908, Upper Point de Bute, Westmorland County, New Brunswick, OBITUARY
Upper Point de Bute, May 18 - An aged and esteemed resident of Upper Point de Bute passed away on Friday last when the death took place of Mrs. Alfred TINGLEY, after a lingering illness. The deceased lady was eighty years of age and her passing is mourned by a very wide circle of acquaintances. Mrs. Tingley is survived by her husband, three sons and three daughters. The daughters, who were with her at the time of her death, are Mrs. McKinney of Roslindale, Mrs. John Fawcett of Amherst, and Mrs. Bliss Oulton, of Jolicure. The sons are Messrs. Chas. and Harris Tingley of Boston, and Mr. Judson Tingley of Upper Point de Bute. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon and was very largely attended. Among those present were a number from Sackville and Amherst and outside points. At 2 o'clock the remains were taken to the Baptist Church, where service was held. Appropriate music was rendered by the choir. After the church service, many followed the remains to the grave. The pall-bearers were Messrs. J.K. Spence, Byron Atkinson, Frank Trueman, Charles Bowser. The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful, silently testifying to the esteem in which Mrs. Tingley was so widely held. The officiating clergymen were Rev. R.J. Colpitts and Rev. C. Flemington. (From the Amherst Daily News newspaper, dated Tuesday, 19 May 1908, page 8.)

Leonard Townsend
Leonard Townsend

Birth*: circa 1841, Pointe de Bute, Westmorland County, New Brunswick, there is some doubt as to whether Leonard is a son of Thomas and Eunice. He is listed in the 1851 census when Eunice was a widow and head of the household. There is no entry in the relationship to head of household box for Leonard. There is also a wide difference in age between Leonard and Eunice's known children, leading one to speculate that Leonard might have been a nephew or grandson.

Death*: 15 April 1876, Springhill, Nova Scotia, Daily Telegraph, 18 April 1876
