Note*: George Edwin "Edwin" Brown's grandfather, William Brown originally purchased the 100 acre farm in 1887 in Margate, PEI, Canada. It remained in the Brown family for three generations (1887-1987) for a total of 100 years. In 1915, the Brown Farm became known as "Bonnie View Farm" . The Brown's were well known for raising Silver Foxes and showing them at exhibitions (including the CNE-Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto, Ontario) across Canada and the USA.
Bonnie View Farm was also a very well known Bed & Breakfast stop for numerous tourists who visited PEI over the years.
After suffering his second heart attack, Edwin Brown sold 90 acres of farmland, and most of the farm buildings in 1979. He kept the main house with 10 acres of land, and another farm building. Edwin's wife, Ella died in 1982. Edwin remained in the main house and 10 acres of land until his death on November 25, 1987. The Brown house stood empty for the first time in 100 years. Edwin's four daughters inherited the house and the remaining 10 acres of land, which has since been sold.
The "Bonnie View Farm" sign was removed from the front of the Brown house and is now in the possession of Edwin's nephew, Jack Sinclair Ketchum.
Jack Ketchum is proudly displaying the "Bonnie View Farm" sign on his 70 acre farm in Maine, USA, as of the late 1980's. Unfortunately, the oringal sign has been destroyed over the years due to exposure to sun, rain, and snow. A new sign was made (an exact duplicate) and is now displayed in place of the old one, and will remain displayed on Jack S. Ketchum'sfarm.
