     OBITUARY #1 OF NANCY "NANNIE" ELIZABETH SULADIE CASSITY
August 2, 1881 - 1957

THE FOLLOWING IS A TRANSCRIPTION OF THE OBITUARY FROM AN UNKNOWN NEWSPAPER FROM 1957.

"Precious, Oh, how precious is that blessed sleep,
Folded in His bosom, wrapped in slumber deep;
None but Jesus giveth rest so pure and sweet
For the weary body and the careworn feet."

Nannie Elizabeth, daughter of John and Lou Ann Suladie, was born August 2, 1881 near Owingsville, Kentucky. She grew to young womanhood in Kentucky, coming to Indiana immediately upon her marriage to Willard Cassity, Feb. 9, 1904. Since that year she and her husband lived in Hendricks County and engaged in farming until their health failed and they moved into New Winchester.

She was a member of the New Winchester Christian Church for many years and only ill health kept her from constant attendance. She was known for her kindness and helpfulness to her neighbors and was a charter member of the Loyal Friends club, a neighborhood club, whose aim was to spread cheer. As a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign wars, she was tireless in her efforts to give aid and comfort to distressed veterans and families.

A virtuous woman has gone to her reward. A devoted wife and loving mother, a kind neighbor she lived among us. To know her was to love her. To be her neighbor was a blessing.

She and her beloved husband, who preceeded her by only eight short months, were the parents of four children, one son having died in infancy. Her surviving children are Everett Cassity of New Winchester, Lou Anna Ervin of Clermont and Edith Price of Indianapolis. There are four sisters, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends to mourn their loss.

"Precious, Oh, how precious, to behold His face,
Ever to be with Him and to praise His grace:
Ah, when Jesus giveth His beloved sleep,
'Tis the tenderest token of His love so deep."
