Hi Guy,
It is good to meet another cousin. I appreciate you letting me know that you enjoyed the information. There's about 10 years of my life invested in all that research. What started out as a past time turned into a life long obsession. I try to keep everything posted for all to see. I believe that our family heritage should be shared and not horded. I noticed that I do not have any information on your family or your siblings. If you would like to be added to the tree you are most welcome to send me the information.
Take care,
Darrell Warner

Darrell,
I sincerely thank you for your labors of love... for all the time and work
you have invested to search out, investigate, confirm, transcribe, compile,
and present these family records. Thank you also for your kind generosity
to make these fantastic resources available to us.
My name is Guy Douglas Warner. My family and I live in Gulfport, MS
I am the only son of Donald Charles Warner. My grandfather is Wallace G. Warner.
I would be pleased to hear from you.
Thanks again,
Guy

Darrell,
Thank you for posting our family info.
I'm sure you have contemplated this if not already planned ahead and made provision for it but....
Who will carry forth this family heritage vision you have begun... all your good work and the investment
you have made into our family if you should die? Do you have anyone in mind? Your daughter, wife or another close relative?
Is there anyone else trained at this time to continue running with this vision?
I hope you receive these questions in the spirit they are asked. I'm not trying to pry or tell you what to do. You have already
done so much and I am sincerely thankful for that. It's just that it would be such a terrible loss if there was no one to carry the
torch ahead into the generations to come.
Simply said, I am thankful for your vision, your hard work and your personal sacrifices and the investment you have made.
I appreciate and cherish the gift of family heritage you have given to us... I am inspired by you and what you have done
Would you like information concerning other family members in the Wallace G. Warner line? I would be glad to contact those I can.
I would be glad to help you with this work as much as you are willing and as much as I am able.
Thanks,
Guy

Hi Guy,
It is funny how this genealogy stuff works. I don't really think anyone can be trained to do it. I wasn't. I believe that you either have the passion for it or not. You have to be part detective, part record researcher, part secretary and mostly just plain stupid. I have researched so many dead ends I am quite surprised I still have any hair left. You would think after 12 years of unsuccessfully taking the Warner's back another generation I would give up. (This is where the stupid part comes in) I currently have been researching a whole different line of Warner's from Montgomery County for over a year in hopes of tying them to our line. Still no luck there and I just might be wasting my time. You just can't leave any stone unturned though. I have even gone through the old horse registry in hopes of getting clues. Family lore has it that there were 4 brothers that came from Ireland. I can not prove or disprove that. Sometimes you just want to scream when you keep hitting brick walls. Whether it is a passion or a defect in the brain I keep digging though. Sometimes I even wonder.
As far as all my work goes. In case of my untimely demise I have it in my will that the Bath County Library genealogy department is to be mailed all my research. I sure don't want to see it thrown away. I can print a book with the program I have but the book would be about 600 pages and with ink and paper it would probably cost about $150.00 to $200.00 just to do it. I eventually plan to print one and send it to the library.
As I have always stated this is a family tree. You are most welcome and encouraged to help out in any way possible. All of this would not be possible without the help of my internet family.
Darrell
PS. If you want to get started in this I would suggest that buy the program Family Tree Maker and I can set you up with a family file. All I ask that there is a small footnote somewhere acknowledging me for the work I have done. Be warned.. You may find yourself sitting up at night searching for loose ends and not getting any sleep.

Hi Guy,
I am in the process of getting things together for the reunion. I wanted to run something by you and please give me your
honest opinion. I was planning on printing a booklet for the reunion. It will be about 40 pages long with an index. I would have to sell them for $10.00 to cover the cost of paper, ink and folder. I was going to print about 15 and bring along with me unless you think it is too tacky and a bad idea. Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Darrell

Good Morning Darrell,
Honestly, this does not and would not offend me. I do not know how others feel about it. Some may be offended thinking you should just give them away... Others may appreciate having the opportunity to have this resource from our first and possibly only Warner Family Reunion... while the rest may not care one way or the other. I'm sure you've considered all this. So, I'm fine with the idea of bringing these booklets and offering to sell them for $10. I do not think of it as a bad idea. My only other request is that you run this by Steve Giani and get his input. Steve mentioned that you and Megan were driving down in your truck. Is this still the plan? When do you plan to arrive?
Good to hear from you.
Looking forward to meeting you and Megan.
Guy
P.S. What about the possible leads on Isaac Warner and sons Jacob, Isaac and Thomas? I'm really curious about this... It sounded like a VERY GOOD find How is it looking now... Have you proven or disproved anything with your findings yet?

Hi Darrell,
I guess you're about ready to fire up that smoker for your Thanksgiving gobbler. That was some fine gobbler and a great shot too I've never hunted turkey... come to think of it, I haven't hunted anything for quite awhile... obviously I'm too busy and my priorities are wrong Hey, I never got a response from you about "how" you guys caught your catfish... rod & reel, limb line, trot line, or noodling?
The trip log below is poorly written but it will give you an idea of what we've been up to for most of the last two months...
Here is a summary of our trips. Drove to Fort Lauderdale, FL and spent the last two weeks of Sept. there. Of course we swam at the beach several times... Drove down to Key West over the weekend... Snorkeled, toured Ft. Zachary Smith, collected coconuts, ate at a wonderful Cuban restaurant, sightseeing, etc. We headed home Fri, 28 Sept. stopped at the Butterfly World... A habitat with gorgeous butterflies, moths, and hummingbirds... Arrived home late Sat. rested and unpacked Sun. Back to work on Mon, Tues Wed, Thu... Pack Friday and head out for the East Coast on Saturday morning... Drove 16hrs straight through to Washington D.C. Stayed with friends. Visit Mt. Vernon, and Oktoberfest on base (Ft.Belvouir). Leave D.C on Wednesday morning headed towards New York
City(4hrs) Since we weren't due at friends house on Long Island until Friday evening we headed north to explore the Catskill Mts. until Friday. Gorgeous mountains scenery... Hiked to Kaaterskill Falls which is the tallest two-tiered waterfall in New York State. Starting from a turnout almost at the top, we hiked up to the top of the "Gunks"(Shawangunk Mt.Ridge)which has sheer mountain faces sought after by adventurous souls for mountain climbing and rappelling. We met a group of three climbers who gave an invite to Brandon to accompany them on the next route.. But we had to decline. Left mountains Fri afternoon for Long Island, missed turn and arrived about 1hr late for supper. Spent Saturday morning at high school homecoming parade... Friend's daughter is majorette. Spent the rest of Saturday touring the city... Starting with New York pizza... we ate two BIG pies... Very good. Then we rode the Staten Island Ferry, saw Lady Liberty... Manhattan, Brooklyn, Chinatown... Went up to the observation deck on the Empire State Building... Then the American Girl Doll Place and finally Time Square. Sunday... Church with friends, lunch then out for an afternoon walk on the beach at Jones Beach State Park (Long Island). Left Monday morning for Burlington, MA (Boston area 4hr)and checked into Hilton that afternoon... Attended class Tue-Fri...checked out Sat, drove towards Boston, parked and rode the subway into downtown... Walked through Boston following the Freedom Trail. Rode subway back to car... Checked into family suite on Hanscom AFB, in Lexington ($47 night ). Sunday morning drove north to New Hampshire headed for the White Mts. Before getting to the mountains, we got to see the fall leaves in their "peak" of beauty just south and west of Concord. Then north on to Lincoln and east onto the Kancamagus Scenic Byway. We also did a moderately strenuous hike up to Arethusa Falls, which is generally regarded as the highest single waterfall in New Hampshire, measuring about 176 feet. After 2 days and 1 night in the mountains we drove back to our suite at the base and crashed for the night. Next morning up and off to Plymouth Plantation, Mayflower 2, and west to Carver to visit the cranberry bogs. One afternoon, we rappelled for a couple hrs. in a light rain at Hammond Pond, Newton, MA. It was only a 40ft drop but it gave me some good practice. We left the next morning and drove almost 2 days in the rain coming down the Blue Ridge... We'd hoped to catch some more leaves peaking but it was not to be so. We finished the drive home. All in all we traveled approx. 6000 miles in 5 weeks. I'm ready to go again But I don't think the family would be up to it. I consider it good training for a trip to Alaska. Don't know exactly when or if it will happen but I'm planning on it, if the Lord wills.
Gotta go.... I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving w/ your family & friends.
Guy

Hi Guy,
Sorry for not replying to your last letter. I missed the question I guess. My cousin Roy, a friend named Randy and I set bank lines on the Missouri to catch those big fish. It was the best day of fishing we ever had. We used carp about 6" long for bait. We set out about 75 hooks and caught thirteen total fish. All total we caught about 350 to 400 ponds of fish. When we cleaned them we ended up with about 4 coolers full of fillets. Me and Randy took a couple of coolers full and had a fish fry at my nephew's house in Lawrence, Kansas. My nephew is Adrian Mayes starting left guard for the University of Kansas football team. He invited half the football team to eat. Those boys can put away the groceries. Almost forgot but the family is in a state of mourning after the loss to Missouri last Saturday. We sure were hoping Adrian would get to play in the National Championship game. There is always next year I guess.
You sure have been on the road. I am sure you saw some amazing nature. I still chuckle about your repelling story you told us that day when we drove to the cemetery.
The family had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. This year I smoked a ham and a turkey. I won them at a shooting contest the week before that I and a couple of friends went too. Ten shots cost $30.00 and I won 2 or the 10 rounds. I couple have almost just went to the store and bought the ham and turkey but there is something to be said about spending and afternoon swapping lies and shooting guns.
Next week I go see the shoulder surgeon and we are going to make plans for me to finally get my rotator cuff fixed. I guess living with it for 7 years has been long enough. The last month it has began to hurt pretty much all the time. I am not looking forward to be cut on again. I guess in the long run it will be for the good.
I hope this letter finds you and your family in good health.
Take care,
Darrell
