     Charles Whitney was born at Lancastershire, England.1 He married Sarah Lydia Morrison.1 Charles Whitney died before 1900 at Franklin Co, New York.2,3
     Charles Whitney was also known as William Blake According to Todd Bissonette, William Blake fought in the Civil War with the 16th N.Y. Cavalry, enlisting at Buffalo NY on the 7th of May 1863. He had blue eyes and stood 5 feet 7 inches tall. Blake was honorably discharged on Oct. 3rd. 1865. William BLake also served time in State Prison in Dannamora New York in 1870. He got out of prison and applied for a Civil War pension on January 2nd, 1874 at Dannamora. His injuries were a gun shot wound to the right foot and a hernia from a fall from his horse. It was in 1880 that he was listed in that year's census as Charles Blake, and the first time he appears as Charles Whitney was in 1885 when He purchased a 50 Acre homestead in Burke New York.
Todd, his great great grandson still owns a large piece of the original farm that was purchase din 1885.4
