Betheda Tryon

     Betheda Tryon was born on 28 February 1846 at Moira, Franklin Co, New York.¹ She was the daughter of William Tryon Jr. and Lucinda Slosson. Betheda Tryon married Cyrus Stowe, son of Jason Stowe, on 28 October 1896 at Moira, Franklin Co, New York; The marriage was performed by Rev. C.H. Walton at the home of er brother, Washington Tryon. Cyrus Stowe was of Son Prairie, Wisconsin and Betheda was of Moira.² Betheda Tryon died on 14 July 1934 at Moira, Franklin Co, New York, at age 88; Betheda Tryon Stowe, highly esteemed resident of Moira, passed
away Saturday morning at the home
of her niece, Miss Cora Tryon, with
whom she had made her home for
the past 16 years.
The deceased was born in Moira
February 28, 1846, a daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. W. N. Tryon. She taught
school in the public schools of this
county and was in the west for a
period as a tutor for private families.
She was of a retiring- disposition,
a deep thinker, and a woman
of many accomplishments. She was
a member of the W. C. T. U. and of
the M. E. Church at Moira.
Surviving are one brother in Hickory, North Carolina; three nieces, Mrs. Charles Lee, North Claringdon, Vermont; Mrs. Clarence Edmond,
Keene Valley, N. Y. and Miss Cora
Tryon, Moira; two nephews, Clayton Tryon, Rome, and Bert Tryon,
Keene Valley.^3,1 She was buried at Moira Cemetery, Moira, Franklin Co, New York.¹
     She appeared on the census of 21 January 1920 at East Main Street, Moira, Franklin Co, New York; Betheda Stowe, aged 73, sister-in-law, was living with Sarah A. Tryon, 71 and her daughter, Cora M., 42.⁴
